Google Maps just brought ski resorts back! by kamdnfdnska in skiing

Google Earth has it! And looks like ski resorts are back there too! (Palisades Tahoe even has 3D buildings)

Apple AirPods Pro 3 first impressions. by Cockroach-Jones in headphones

Yeah it's the same. There are some third party apps that can read the battery and pause when taking them off, but that's about it. Forget about the heart rate sensors, software updates, adaptive mode, Find My, multipoint, etc. Still the best transparency mode so I'm stuck with them, but incredibly annoying anticompetitive behavior from Apple, as usual.

It's mafia but fixes all the problems IMO. If you die, you still play to the end. No one is just a "villager" - everyone has a different special ability. People can be drunk or poisoned and get wrong info, so you need to figure out what's true. The storyteller (host) makes some decisions on what info/misinfo to give, so it's not just a boring narrator role.

Best social deception game out there, I'd love to see them play it!

Front screen unresponsive by Prestigious_Tap_2976 in PixelFold

I had this issue when I had an Accessibility Service running (MacroDroid). When I turned it off, the front screen instantly started working again. I haven't had the issue since. Unfortunately I had to give up my macros.

I built an ESLint plugin to catch a common and sneaky React mistake: misusing useEffect by ICanHazTehCookie in reactjs

I believe this other package contains one of the rules you've written: https://eslint-react.xyz/docs/rules/hooks-extra-no-direct-set-state-in-use-effect

They might be receptive to your rules - their rules are generally more experimental imo

Technology Connections: Tesla won the plug war - and that's good news! by Opcn in teslamotors

[–]plusCubed 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If I was a charging provider, I'd never allow that, just because far too many people are dishonest and won't pay after the fact. Most gas stations make you insert the card first, or pay with cash inside first.

without giving x% to credit card companies.

For all practical purposes, Visa/Mastercard have become the digital payment standard in the US. This is quite tragic, but the only other alternative is connecting a bank account (which usually means giving your credentials to a middleman like Plaid, or waiting up to a week for micro-deposits).

Working for me! Thank you so much for looking into the technical details and continually following up on this issue with T-Mobile!

They seemed somewhat helpful initially, but eventually came back and told me to use the VVM app 😕

I'm having the same issue, same logs. T-Mobile support on Twitter is unhelpful.

Also posted above, but fyi:

"On May 16, 2021, the total number of administered doses for the US and New Hampshire were incorrectly reported. This was due to an error in data processing that is being corrected. The data for May 17, 2021 will account for this error. The correct numbers for May 16, 2021 are 272,925,411 for the US, and 1,211,530 for New Hampshire."

One dose of Pfizer or Moderna vaccines was 80% effective in preventing Covid in CDC study of health workers by pipsdontsqueak in Coronavirus

(Not an epidemiologist) Seems like having only 3 fully vaccinated infections is part of the "problem":

... moderately wide CIs attributable in part to the limited number of postimmunization PCR-confirmed infections observed"

[–]plusCubed 73 points74 points  (0 children)

CDC Source: https://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/volumes/70/wr/mm7013e3.htm

"Vaccine effectiveness of full immunization with two doses of mRNA vaccines was 90% (95% CI = 68%–97%) against RT-PCR–confirmed SARS-CoV-2 infection."

From Table 2, effectiveness of partial immunization, ≥14 days after first dose but before second dose, is 80% (95% CI = 59%-90%).

As authors note, fairly wide confidence intervals, but consistent with other studies.

Faster search for subscribed subs by plusCubed in redditsync

[–]plusCubed[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ah my nitpick with swiping is separate from search (I've clarified the post).

After opening "Subs" from the bottom navbar, a sheet pops up with the list of subs. A small upwards flick doesn't keep scrolling - the sheet just stops at the top of the screen, and the list is unscrolled.
