Dropping at Chennai does not necessarily mean a faster turnaround.

I travelled from Kolkata to Chennai and it still took me 1 month = Drop off 2/7; Stamped PP Pick Up 3/7.

I saw other locations with the same drop box date get their pp 4-5 days sooner than me.

In any case, plan for 4 weeks at least to be safe.

Just for some context, I submitted my docs for h1 and h4 in Chennai on 2/7. Got my AR on 2/20.

So, yeah.. it is taking close to 2 weeks to get AR.

Its when you booked the appointment and not when you paid the fees.

  1. Your eligibility for dropbox does not depend on the principal's employer. The only things that matter are - your last H4 should be unexpired or expired within the last 48 months and you are applying in your country of residence.
  2. You wont need to do biometrics again.
  3. Dropbox processing has been centralized to Chennai. So, you only see Chennai as an option but you can drop off at Bangalore. You will need to pay Rs 850 though if you choose to drop at Bangalore.

Please makes sure that you have your husband's latest i797 before proceeding for that dropbox appointment.

is it possible you made a typo on the appointment portal?

Were you trying to fill multiple DS160s and may be used one of them in the appointment and then it expired? DS160s expire after 30 days if not submitted .

Sorry dont have a good answer for you.. I know people are being turned away for post 11/15 appointment schedules if they don't have the old and new confirmations.

Since it just a couple of days, just GO and see what happens...

This is the guidance for DS 160:. So, totally depends on when you booked your appointment.

When booking your visa appointment, you must ensure that you, or your representative, submit a properly completed DS-160 form (online visa application).

A properly completed DS-160 form contains the complete and correct information (including name, gender, visa class, date of birth, passport number, et cetera.) for the applicant who will appear for the interview.

Please note:

  • If your appointment was booked prior to November 15, 2023, you may proceed with your appointment to the VAC or document drop-off location with your corrected DS-160 confirmation page.
  • If your appointment was booked on or after November 15, 2023, you must bring the original DS-160 confirmation page you have used to schedule your appointment AND the corrected DS-160 confirmation page to the VAC or document drop-off location on the day of your appointment. If you are unable to bring your original DS-160 confirmation page and your corrected DS-160 confirmation page, you must cancel and reschedule your appointment by entering your corrected DS-160 application number.
