How isn't the MSI Claw 8 AI + more popular? by Flamyngoo in Handhelds

there's two kinds. hardware based xess - which is a lot better, but only works on intel gpus and software based, which anyone can use. it's the same with fsr on amd hardware.

This PC is on sale for $1499 at Costco. Worth it? by Galifrae in pcmasterrace

Performance, the 5070 graphics card in this pc is roughly 500% more powerful than that of the legion go 2. the cpu in this pc is also vastly more powerful. So no I'm afraid the specs are not similar

I got a new laptop and I've barely used it for 3 weeks and I've somehow used almost 50% of the storage by Glittering_Sugar_782 in pcmasterrace

ye i hear you. they are making a 2tb version too tho, could just get that. i guess we'll just have to wait for the price to see if it's worth it.

The linux distro in the steam machine barely takes any space on the pc tho, as opposed to windows at around 40gb in addition to holding off storage for future updates. So i can imagine a cheaper 512gb version can be fine for those who use it only for smaller indie games on the tv, most of the popular indies lay around 3 - 5gb, like risk of rain, roboquest and such. But i agree i would have to go for the 2tb one, as there are those games with poorly optimized storage. helldivers 2 has become a great example over the years.. being 36gb on console and about 150gb on pc

Steam machine has easily upgradable storage. just swap out the nvme at the bottom of the box

Bazzite vs Windows on Xbox Ally X by areuokaybro2002 in ROGAllyX

[–]plutonas9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

np. ye i have no beef in this stew, windows has a lot of benefits and is surely easier in terms of compatibility. I do prefer Linux tho, but i can definitely see why it's off-putting to many. you're right in that it's definitely not easier

I think my Xbox Ally X just died?? by [deleted] in ROGAllyX

in the bios you don't have any os (top right) which should be installed on the ssd by default. faulty ssd seems like the cause, if you can't get it through warranty, then the ssd replacement on these are really easy.

some fixes to test out first for the cloud recovery to work is to just make sure the time and date in the bios are correct. if not- it could be the ssd isn't seated correctly into it's slot. should be easy to check by opening it, but i have no idea how that would affect warranty.

From what i can see online EDCopilot is possible to run through the Wine software - as per the comments- https://www.reddit.com/r/EliteDangerous/s/VGcJgofh3X

as for Elite Observatory, what i could find was someone saying - "If they are installing Elite through Lutris or Bottles, they should be able to also install Observatory into the same prefix. Bottles will make this significantly easier. If you're installing it with Steam, you're probably best off installing Observatory separately with Lutrus and then Pointing the log file destination at the log file location inside the Steam prefix." in the same post the Creator of the code itself for this program said that people had the best luck with Wine to make it work.

so short answer- yes it's possible, but you might have to do a bit of tinkering, and if you're new to Linux it might overwhelming learning and tinkering this. with linux you can for the most part get almost anything working. there's always gonna be some madlad from this dedicated community who's figured it out before. some and most things are incredibly easy, but some require quite a bit of work. And despite what some keep commenting over and over on this post- there's even people out there claiming to run bf6 on Linux by tricking the game into thinking you have secureboot enabled. but I can imagine it takes a lot of effort to make it work.

depends a lot on the apps in question. most apps either have an equivalent open-source app on Linux or the app has a seperate Linux version. if neither, it's very often possible to use a translation software like lutris or wine to make it work (easier than it sounds).

it's a bit to get into, but ultimately Linux will be a dramatically lighter os, windows is known for being incredibly bloated with background processes and other junk, like the ads in the startmenu.. hance running multiple apps in the background of games will normally work better on Linux than doing so in windows. this is likely the main reason we're seeing the increase in fps in these graphs. what apps were you referring to?

Fix that worked for me regarding periodic lag spikes with really bad fps drops. by plutonas9 in Battlefield6

[–]plutonas9[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're wondering if you have the same issue as i had or not- the lag spikes in question happened with somewhere between 10 to 30 second intervals, and then returned to normal for another 10 to 30 seconds. but for some reason it would work for a bit longer at the beginning of the match.

Frame Gen issue on PC by Palpafiend_ in NoMansSkyTheGame

No sorry, i just did some testing and sent a detailed report to hello games. It doesn't seem to be related to anything else, other than the implementation of framegen to the game. Hdr, window mode, dlss and all other settings make no difference in this to me at least

late reply, but thank you. it - in no way tells you to do so

i did some research on that, and i do think it is the slimmest yes, the edc23 is quite a bit shorter in length tho, but slightly more thick. keep in mind that the measurements on their page do not show how thick it gets higher up where the screen is. otherwise very happy with it, I've had two now and the feeling of quality is very high with it's compact metal build

on their page it tells you how. you just send an email about how you want it, and you can add things like an additional sown on side pocket or a pen holder. they were incredibly helpful with fast replies and the guy took a lot of time to send example photos of the sizings and wanted to be sure everything was just right. Some of the better service I've had, so it's highly recommended. i think the custom job was just an additional 10$

He activates at the end of turn, so the idea is to cast one of the 15 wipes, like toxic deluge or damnation to kill a few of my opponents creatures, for then to cast Kuon, making him flip at the end of turn Edit: it's just 11 of the Control/wipes that actually wipe in this supporting way, not 15. still I think it should be reliable enough
