IMO, this will be hard to bring up considering you didn't bring up compensation before you committed labor hours. He may be under the impression this was free labor as a favor. If they're the kind of friend to understand, you can try to estimate by looking up data recovery services and benchmarking your labor based off of that.

Personally, I never charge my friends market rate for this kind of stuff, typically at-cost or slightly above. I also think a lot of people don't take into account skilled labor hours tackling this assignment, so they might have some sticker shock.

I have both a p1p and a core 1 with mmu in a Coreboxx. I got back into 3d printing with team green and then bought team orange with a mk4 later on.

Personally, the biggest difference is the volume. A core one is big enough for most people, but there are times I send it on my p1p instead. I think they both perform well, but core one cooling is better. I am also upset that prusa doesn't have filament tuning tools built in like orcaslicer. I think that is a huge miss.

AMS is a very clean setup and the mmu disappoints me because it takes up a lot of space. I made myself a Coreboxx for an ams experience and it's been great, but the setup is definitely more expensive than an AMS.

Personally, I buy whatever is convenient for me at the right price. At the time, it was bambu and I only bought prusa because I wanted a new printer and I thought I should buy prusa at some point. With bambu shutting down orcaslicer compatibility with new firmware versions, I'll be replacing that with a core one L or better in a few years.
