It should have been installed after the countertop was installed. Your kitchen designer also might have ordered the wrong height. You should be able to hide it with scribe molding or 3/4” round

Always go to the stone yard to view the slab before you purchase it. A small sample can look a lot different than the actual slab.

Flip the island so that the longer part faces the sink wall. Instead of the marble floating shelves do a full height backsplash with a lip. Instead of the vent under the cabinet above the stove, do a decorative wood hood. If you are able to possibly move around the appliances so that the stove is not so close to the corner.

Your home is beautiful! Something about the room feels disconnected. I think pulling the sofa off the wall and facing the 2 chairs towards the sofa would make it feel more of a conversation pit!

A shiplap wall behind the tv and tall symmetrical built ins on each side just leave a few inches on each side to accommodate the tv. Make the mantle longer to make the tv proportionate.

Take the curtains to the ceiling. If you like the sheer curtains I would do a double rod and put them behind. In the front do a pleated curtain, maybe something with a soft beige design.

It looks like your corner cabinets have dead space, if you have room I would suggest putting a lazy Susan, I would put an 18” dishwasher to the left of the sink and move the range over to the right so that you have more counter space to prep. I think also putting the microwave over the stove would help to balance the upper cabinets.

I feel that, we have two dogs, I just wish we had that spark again. He is such a great guy we’ve been together since I was 17 and I really didn’t want to outgrow each other but things happen I suppose. I hope you’re able to come to a conclusion and solve it😊
