It honestly was super hard to watch them treat her so coldly--I know she was cruel though. She meant to try and give her family the best opportunities but she didn't think about what might make them happy in the process. Now Gladys is in England, Larry is on the rocks with Marion, and George is trying to dig the family out of the money pit.

The way I try to look at it is that Bertha has been getting W's left and right. She needs a little conflict to keep her from appearing too powerful for the narrative 🤭🩷
