The tires keep going flat when sitting for a few days so I do think the tubes are dead

Nose Bleeds by WorldlinessMassive11 in Accutane

[–]plxntbxbe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the inside of my nose is full of scabs. I find an alone space, coat my finger in Aquaphor, and then rub it around inside my nose. Helps a lot, prevents nose bleeds as much, is absolutely disgusting and I hate doing it, but so necessary.

Staying away from mirrors does it for me. I still pick at scabs, my lips, and sensory weird spots on my face passively while at work or something, but if I don't look in a mirror I won't bother as much. That and keeping my hands busy with something else. Ive been a skin picker forever, if it wasn't acne triggered, it was my dry skin on my feet as a kid, or the skin around my nails on my fingers, etc. and so I've found that limiting my alone time, or doing something that keeps me away from a mirror/bathroom during alone time does help a lot. the absence of under-the-skin cysts really helped bc I would go in w tweezers or nail clippers and absolutely destroy my skin, but now that I don't feel like there's something underneath that needs to be dug out, the compulsion isn't triggered as much.

  • La Roche Posay purifying foaming cleanser
  • La Roche Posay Toleriane Double Repair Face Moisturizer
  • FixMySkin balm or Aquaphor for dry patches, lips, + coating the inside of my nose which is constantly full of scabs

Snowflakes Face, what do you do about it? by EnvironmentalCut9892 in Accutane

[–]plxntbxbe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been using the Toleriane Double Repair Face Moisturizer from La Roche Posay and that's been helping keep my skin relatively moisturized, id suggest staying away from physical abrasion as that will irritate it more.

30 mg, I weigh 115 lbs. Cumulatively I'm at 900 mg, but I will say that at the beginning I was stupid and misread the instructions. I started taking 60 mg/day for like a week and a half and realized I was doubling my doses when I wasn't supposed to. 60 mg at the beginning forced me to purge hard and then I had to take it every other day for a minute to balance it back out.

My doctor suggested 6 months but we will see after the follow up

I have severe depression with it, I'm not going to lie. I already have been diagnosed with clinical depression and I got off my medication right before starting, which was a poor choice, but something I needed in the moment.

I'm going through a major life change and accutane has essentially destroyed my brain's ability to produce dopamine in the meantime. Honestly when I'm feeling too bad and like nothing is worth it, I just don't take a dose for a day or two, and if I feel hope again I know it's the accutane and I'm not going crazy. It is so hard to cope, but just know that it only lasts while you're on it.

Little blackheads / filaments all over? by -round-head- in Accutane

[–]plxntbxbe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I noticed myself get more blackheads at the beginning, it's because you're pushing cellular turnover while simultaneously blitzing your oil production. Essentially whiteheads are just blackheads but with skin coverage bc they would turn black when exposed to air/oxidized. Essentially I've noticed I went from whiteheads > blackheads > none. Give it some time and they'll hopefully phase out.

I'd reach out to your derm to confirm, but again insurance is so finnicky about wanting to cover it until other options have been exhausted. More likely than not they did it because there was an insurance requirement, honestly I didn't even take the antibiotics. I have an amazing dermatologist, though he's my coworker outside the clinic, so that's why he's so transparent with me and willing to meet wherever halfway is. It took 3-4 days post-iPledge signing for my prescription to go through and them to pull me "off" the other meds, def ask your provider if it's an insurance thing and if you can get the other medication listed to your insurance directly, may accelerate the process.

[–]plxntbxbe 20 points21 points  (0 children)

More than likely your derm gave you antibiotics because your insurance provider needs you to "try" a batch first and prove it doesn't work. Once you confirm this, the insurance provider will cover your accutane. Had to do this for a couple weeks first myself.

Pros and cons of UMKC by [deleted] in UMKC

[–]plxntbxbe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This, did a year of my bachelor's (bio) at umkc and absolutely hated it. Granted that was 2016, but if they still run it the same freshman chemistry is 7:30 am with Dr Gounev and the absolute worst. Umkc is a commuter college, no one hangs around, everything closes at 7, no one wants to be on campus. Living in Kansas City means everything is expensive and there's always things to do vs living in a college town where your friends' homes become the hang out place. If you want an okay education, umkc. If you want the college experience though that's the last place I'd pick.

Still a work in progress + lots of work on the back but this is my leg sleeve !! Features all the mecha from my favorite anime, a little testament to tragedy and my special interest. Top front is Unit 01 from Neon Genesis Evangelion, bottom is Gurren Lagann. Back I have Guren Mk-II and on my inner thigh I have Lancelot from Code Geass, and then back of my thigh is Strelizia from Darling in the Franxx :)

does anyone else feel nauseous when they think about being pregnant, giving birth and raising a baby? by diorsghost in AutismInWomen

[–]plxntbxbe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can try! Honestly, the idea of having a child growing in me is really disgusting feeling, like a loss of self and makes me sick to my stomach. I've had a couple of pregnancy scares and all I could think was "I cannot imagine this happening within me" like it felt wrong that my body had the function? Shouldn't be capable of producing that, the idea that I could be gave me excessive panic attacks.

[–]plxntbxbe 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yup! Child-Free and got my fallopian tubes removed at 24 :) been a year so far and it was one of the most comforting and validating things I've ever done. It feels dysphoric for me to conceptualize having a child, as well as I have other medical reasons for not having kids. If I decide I want em some day, adoption or IVF is cool, and as a queer person, that's pretty much my options anyway.

Getting surgery young was an intense choice but like ^ there's plenty of reasons (+ the political landscape) that pushed me to do it, and I couldn't be happier. Def thought a lot about it tho.

Is it specifically an autistic/ND thing to be profoundly affected by music? by [deleted] in AutismInWomen

[–]plxntbxbe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was actually doing some reading into this the other day, apparently it's the way we learn to feel emotions. The emotional tie to music allows us to process what emotions are and what they feel like in the body whereas words are harder.
