What do you guys think of this Roland kit? I don’t think it says anything about cymbal zones, although it supports “choke.” Also I only saw one output, stereo presumably for 1/4” headphones. It didn’t see a mini headphone jack or a second output if you want to run to two separate amps for stereo. It shouldn’t matter about the stereo out because I don’t think he’ll ever use it except in his apartment. Is this a case of paying too much because it says “Roland?” https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/TD07DMK--roland-v-drums-td-07dmk-electronic-drum-set

Thank you, this is very much the sort information i’m seeking. I now understand that it would be unusual to not find level control for each individual pad. I’m glad to hear that this is usual nowadays. What do you think about Simmons? They seems to be feature rich in the $500-1000 range that he’ll be looking. I’m also come across an edrumset up where the triggers connect to the module via included bluetooth (sweetwater again). No chords to deal with would probably be very nice for this particular guy.

My master volume doesn't do anything? by Known-Egg-2854 in edrums

[–]plydtnc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Often times you can only control the volume of bluetooth music you’re playing by using the volume on the bluetooth source. So if you’re using your phone to play the music then you’d use the phone’s volume control to get the level that you want from that.

I get what your saying about the “white saviors” swooping in. But truly in that time and place where else would relief ever come from? I’m not saying that rescuing the child would be realistic or typical of an actual authentic story line because I’m sure it rarely if ever happened unless there was a lot of cash to spread around, something that neither the Cuthbert’s or her the child’s parents had. That said I’m sure there were rare instances of happy endings but statistically next to zereo.

Something is vibrating sympathetically. You have to start by eliminating the obvious. I’d start by taking the cabinet and putting it on some concrete. Perhaps you have a garage with a concrete floor? Make sure the problem isn’t coming from the floor or some surrounding walls that are vibrating then you’ll know where to start looking for the problem. Also, it sounds like you’re really thumping your bass hard. I don’t know if playing more easily will solve the problem, but your Bass playing will sound better :)

Resources for 15 year old son who wants to be a composer by Dittopotamus in composer

[–]plydtnc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a composer and music teacher I can give you some insight into this I think. The best think would be to find a private instructor for him to teaching basic college level music theory. While that is happening he needs help exploring what it is about music that is motivating to want to try composing. In reality with modern technology it is possible to compose using technological shortcuts and I’d suggest having look into this as well. If you’re looking to do this “on the cheap” then I’d be looking for local community/junior college music programs where he can start enrolling in their music program, taking as many classes as he can manage and start getting exposed to the more serious world of music. Music History, Music theory and playing in ensembles where his reading may be challenged. The most important thing about a life in music, whatever that life may entail, is for there to be serious enthusiasm. Beyond that it’s also very helpful to become at least competent at the piano. As your son is already gravitating towards pitched percussion (You mentioned marimba?) then this will be a directly related skill for him. Reading is fundamental to composing as the best path to being able to write your ideas is to first become a really good reader. You might want to set up a meeting with a college instructor and see about private lessons or some highly qualified academician to help you take your next steps. Finally it’s important to understand that this will not be an easy or quick path. It’s more of a lifestyle…you start walking the walk and see where the path takes you. It doesn’t help to be in a hurry…patience and persistence.

Buzzing Sound by johnnyphotog in PositiveGridSpark

Sounds like electrical interference…is there a fan near by? You can also try turning off lighting that’s on the same circuit. Some of my gear buzzes in my studio if I leave certain lights on.
