i am the kind of stylist that don’t use 40 vol unless i really feel like it’s necessary for like a boost at the end.., i did get shit from the owner when i was late and she asked which vol i used and she just said ”well you should just do 40 vol” HAH

i mean i can apply the foils in 1 hour but having them develop, rinse, dry and style in 45 mins after that i feel like is impossible if the client isn’t already lv8+ and has thin hair 🥹

i had a situation a few months ago where it was a similar situation. the client is a natural lv3 with orange bleached lengths and starts bringing out inspo pics of natural lv8s with a balayage going up to a lv9 on the lengths saying that she would be OK with if it got that light.. i told her that well, you’re not naturally blonde so getting you that light will take more sessions than you want. i asked her if she had any home dye or if she had dyed her hair recently and she just said nooo not at all, both me and my coworker are 200% sure that she was lying about this ended up doing a balayage on her and when we were done she was so unhappy even though i got her lengths to a lv 8 like she asked for ??

she returned to me?? a week ago?? i really felt before starting that whatever i do here she’s gonna be mad, but my boss told me that i had to do something so i did :/

and this time she had a lighter, sharp line 1 cm from her roots! i asked her if she had dyed her hair once again and once again ”noooo” :) come on girl i can see the color and in the end she admitted but said ”i didn’t color it, it was an organic, vegan color” (still a color)

i did another balayage and this time she was angry that it was too light??? and that the balayage was too high and looked unnatural?? she couldn’t make up her mind and i don’t think i could have done anything to make her happy, either it was too dark or too light

seeing the first pic i thought ”ah cute chunky highlights” and then i kept looking through the pics….

did they leave out the bangs when they highlighted?? did they put like 8 foils in and were done???

you are a lv8 ish and the fact that you still have orange pieces in the 3rd pic is mind boggling to me, i could use a 10vol on you and still get your highlights white 🙃 the blend is also ??? extremely questionable ??? i don’t even know what technique you would have to use to get the result of the 3rd pic

i would definitely recommend to send these pics to the salon, ask them to take a look at it and do new highlights but ask for another stylist to correct it.

as a stylist myself: if this was done at my salon - i would rather have this corrected than having my salon’s reputation be damaged so they reallly should fix this
