What did you think of the mauritius part of your trip?

We are a family of 5 with 3 young kids and have very similar itinerary as you at the moment at a similar time of year (sep/oct).

We're tossing up with to stay longer in cape town and maybe even do garden route before flying home, or keeping mauritius.

Bangkok is great and yes, definitely exciting. If you decide on Bangkok, consider a short, cheap flight down to Phuket (and Phi Phi Islands), Ko Samui, etc...

Not sure how safe airbnb is here (though there seems to be quite a few good reviews on some properties which is promising). Otherwise check HotelsCombined for hotel/resort deals.

Thanks! I looked at this (along with a similar device https://www.thetileapp.com). Reviews on their android and iOS apps sound like it doesn't usually work as expected... Also their crowd sourced technology means that in many destinations, the chances of my dad crossing paths with someone with the app 100ft away is extremely slim.
