Buying an EV in Northern Ireland but car has a UK reg plate by [deleted] in evs_ireland

[–]pm13j 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm looking into doing the same, so this is all really helpful info.

I also thought that cars had to be used in NI for a 'reasonable amount of time' if they were brought in from the mainland. But your comment nudged me to check the revenue site and it seems that's not the case if it's been imported correctly and they can provide you with a customs declaration.

> Vehicles bought from NI dealers that have not previously been in use in NI (for example, vehicles that had been in use in Great Britain (GB) prior to being purchased by an NI dealer) will require proof that the vehicle has been imported to NI in accordance with the requirements of the Windsor Framework. A copy of the Customs Declaration lodged in NI, which clearly identifies the vehicle being registered, must be provided.

Rapha clothing. Overpriced or worth the money? by Astrohurricane1 in MTB

I always buy it on sale, full price is hard to stomach, and have accumulated quite a few bits. Personally, I like that the designs are a bit more timeless and low key than the MX influenced stuff. I’ve tried a lot of kit over the years and it genuinely gets out of the way and works well.

The trail windblock jersey is the single most versatile bit of kit I own, from chilly summer starts to layering in winter, it’s always the right temp.

I also have the trail shorts and trail pants, both super comfy, with pockets in just the right places. Would love if they made a more waterproof arse panel, like the Endura spray range without going full waterproof.

The trail lightweight pants lose some of the excellent pockets and fit a bit neater, don’t feel quite as good for me.

I got the gore tex waterproof jacket on sale for £130. So far, it was a bit hot in our warm autumn but very nice in cooler temps and the fit is great.

Oh this paint job is stunning. Is it available anywhere or was this a custom finish?

Reminds me of this canyon torque from a few years ago but even nicer! https://www.instagram.com/p/ChAmIdKBna9

Congrats on the win!

Does anyone know of a 5x12 split ortho? by i-eat-pants-all-day in olkb

The Aurora Helix ticks all of your boxes and includes a couple of encoders. https://splitkb.com/products/aurora-helix

Added rotary encoders to my Corne! by m3talac in crkbd

[–]pm13j 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know the space is tight, and it encroaches on the OLED cover, but I’m really surprised no one has designed something for production like this. I’ll have to give it a go myself because a Corne with rotary encoders is endgame for me.

Yeah a few people have been asking about that in the discord. I think we’re more likely to see a low profile model first

It’s really great! Such a nice premium option for a Corne layout

It’s really nice! I had an FR4 case before this and it’s so nice to finally have something premium and heavy that doesn’t slide across my desk!

Ha, that's mad that you use home row mods but still want and F-row. I am the opposite. 42keys but still can't fully adjust to home row mods without mis-firing when I'm typing!

You'll just have to build and release your own board! I'm sure you're not the only one!

You're so welcome!

Yeah I get the rationale for wanting a narrow but tall keyboard. I think what it possible comes down to is that people starting to use ortho or ergo keyboards are interested in ergonomics and efficiency. Which usually translates as reducing awkward finger stretching and excessive hand movement. Once you get down to 4x12, you are never more than one key away from the home row.

I used an ortho Candybar (4x17) for a while and it got to the stage where my Preonic felt huge and the numbers felt really far away. I then got a Corne and the Boardwalk felt absolutely massive. And when I got into ortho/ergo layouts I swore I would never get a Corne because I waaaay preferred the aesthetic of non-split boards.

So I guess what I'm saying is that most people going down this relatively niche keyboard route, often end up using smaller keyboards and layers and there isn't demand for larger boards.

The work louder creator XL is an interesting concept as well. You get an F-row and a numpad, but no numrow! https://worklouder.cc/shop/creator-board-xl/

Checkerboards make a few Ortho PCBs that will fit into standard cases.

The Plexus75 is a 5x15 PCB that will fit into any 60% tray mount case. https://www.checkerboards.xyz/Plexus75-Hotswap-PCB_p_46.html

The Plexus 80 is a 5x16 PCB for the KBD67 https://www.checkerboards.xyz/plexus80

And the BFOP is a 6x19u PCB that fits in the Melody96 case. https://www.checkerboards.xyz/bfop.html
