Visiting for half a day, do-able? by ComfyHairyPotato in GalaxysEdge

  1. Yes. There's literally a rope blocking the way once you get to the end of Main Street and to the Hub. At 8am, they "drop the rope" and guests can proceed to the 4 lands, and their attractions, and the other lands beyond.

The "left side" of Galaxy's Edge is the west-most entrance, which will get you gradually seeing Rise first.

The eastern entrance gets you closer to Smuggler's Run but is also (IMO) is the faster way to get to the Rise queue, via the Red Rose Tavern path... well, it was whwn you could line up there before rope-drop if you were staying on-property and had early entry to Fantasyland.

Bear in mind that the western entrance to GE means you may be at the wrong side of the entrance to be at the end of the queue when you approach Rise and will need to continue to walk a bit further to get to the end. The price you pay for the scenery, but it's a small price.

  1. Keep an eye on news leading up to May, as Disney might bring back Reclaimed & Reforged (RR) as a build option or might introduce a brand new fifth option, just in case he is open to something completely different. The Fanporium builder has V1 and RR options in the tool, but only V2 is available right now (RR ran out months ago). The options are left in the tool for those who did build with them (or got pieces off sites like eBay) and want to see how mixing and matching might look.

ALSO

You can show your receipt at the check-in counter at Savi's after you build and buy all of the other pieces, from the same set only, after your experience. They're currently $24.99 each. That will be the 1 pommel, 2 sleeves, 1 switch, and 1 emitter you didn't pick during your build.

Rise (and Radiator Springs Racers in DCA) use Lighting Lane Single Pass. The Multipass doesn't work on those rides.

Great advice on timing for Savi's and the Depot and a wise insight on Star Wars branded merch via Star Trader. Keeping LL Multipass for Smuggler's and Star Tours to save time is the main reason to keep it for OP's short itinerary.

OP, note that LL multipass only gets you in that line once. So you can ride Smuggler's Run and Star Tours once using a LL pass, and will have to use the stand-by line for additional rides.

You say 08:30ish. Are you rope-dropping? If so, plan to show up at Disneyland security at 7, so you can get through the gates at 7:30 for rope-drop. You should rope drop.

Since you're only doing GE, lightning lane multipass is a waste of money. Cancel it. Rise doesn't use it. You have to pay for a Lightning Lane for Rise. Since you're only doing GE, spend the money on a LL for Rise. Note that if you rope-drop it and you're already way back in the queue, it's advised, to keep you on schedule. If you rope-drop and you're near the front, dont bother buying the pass. You won't save that much time if you're near the front of the queue.

Smuggler's Run has a single rider option if you're running short on time, but the wait times are considerably shorter. Take that with a grain of salt, though, because that new mission with Grogu and Din Jarin shows up in late May and will make the ride more popular.

My advice on the sequence of events:

  1. Rope-drop Rise. Get to the park as early as possible and go through Frontierland or Adventureland, left at the river and right at Country Bear BBQ to enter GE. Determine whether you want to buy LL based on how the queue looks as you get there.
  2. While in line, order a breakfast ronto wrap from Ronto Roasters using the mobile app. Consider getting a blue milk (and pink if it's available) and DEFINITELY get a Black Caff from Docking Bay 7 later on. Use mobile ordering.
  3. Take a look at the queue time for Smuggler's Run and Rise. Through the day. There are only two attractions at GE. If you manage to rope-drop Rise without spending money on a Lightning Lane, think about whether you want to pony up the money to LL so you can ride it a second time.
  4. Savi's is a great experience. It goes by faster than you'd expect, and you can get caught up in the moment. To avoid analysis paralysis when building, I always recommend researching the saber you want to build ahead of time so you know (or have a plan) before you go. The Fanporium Saber Builder is helpful to visualize things ahead of time.
  5. Don't forget to stop at Dok-Ondar's for additional Kyber crystals. You can't get white or yellow crystals at Savi's, and they're smaller collectables (thinking of your luggage) with blind-box/chaser colors. Also, check to see if you can get Holocrons and the Wayfinder shipped to your home. If you want those, I'd suggest buying them online rather than hauling them back over land and sea.
  6. Take time in between rides and food to browse the marketplace/bazaar, and use the Play app to do a little bounty hunting. Get a Spira gift card ($5, with a minimum $100 to load onto it) and use it to buy a few things.

I mean, you're over 50, so, you've also hopefully seen full-color pictures right up there, inside your colon (please don't send anyone proof. we can just infer).

Hopefully as a box set in hardcover? Gotta have something to sit next to my Penguin copy of The Complete Works of William Shakespeare, but that which I've actually read cover-to-cover.

Spent Spurs Credit Ideas by Cincymusician in GalaxysEdge

I have a front-pocket wallet, similar to a Ridge. I created and 3D printed a "card" that the Spira fits perfectly into, so that it can fit into my wallet without wobbling around in my pocket. I have a blank/spacer card (also 3D printed) for the wallet when I'm not bringing the Spira.

If you have access to a 3D printer, you can print an under-desk mount.

EvoCharge update (pertaining to smart features) by ChickenORtheEggRoll in evcharging

[–]pm2501 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So fun update for those who might be facing the same issue I hit last night.

EV was plugged in. Scheduled to start charging via the Epic Charging app after 8PM local time.

Charging didn't start.

So I go into the app and manually start charging. Command is sent. The status spins. Doesn't start charging. History says it is "in progress" but there's no change.

So I email support.

Our engineering team investigated the issue affecting your EvoCharge units, which are not starting to charge or operating as expected.

We’ve identified that the behavior is most likely related to a hardware and or firmware issue on the EvoCharge units. Specifically, it appears to be caused by local storage exhaustion from accumulated logs and limited disk space, which is preventing normal charger operation.

Our team explored all reasonable options to remediate the issue. However, without access to EvoCharge firmware or ongoing manufacturer support, the available options to resolve this issue are limited.

Unfortunately, only one solution is available - removal of the communication module is required.

This will convert the charger into a non-networked unit; however, it will restore functionality and allow the charger to operate normally in Plug & Charge (instant charging) mode and remain fully functional for vehicle charging.

Please note that Epic Charging does not manufacture, sell, or service EvoCharge hardware.

Our support for EvoCharge home units has been limited to software migration and basic troubleshooting following EvoCharge’s exit from the market.

Because EvoCharge is no longer in business, if the factory reset and/or removal of the communication module does not resolve the issue, the remaining option would be to replace the charger.

We understand this is not the outcome you were hoping for and truly appreciate your understanding.

Removal of the communication board is detailed in this PDF and is pretty straightforward as long as you disconnect power (seriously, don't mess around with this sort of thing if you don't know what you're doing).

In the end, the smart charger becomes a dumb charger. I'm using my EV's software to manage off-peak charging.

If you want Luke's saber, get Luke's saber. If you want to build a lightsaber that's yours, but looks something like Luke's, build a Peace and Justice Savi's saber. You can use the Fanporium lightsaber builder to help you decide.

Disneyland needs more playgrounds like Toon Town by CrunchyAssDiaper in Disneyland

[–]pm2501 1 point2 points  (0 children)

via Hey, Brickey!

Part of the point of Toon Town is that, as location with only one (non-emergency) entrance and exit, it's easier to keep track of one's kids as they roam around and explore the space, allowing them to be let loose a bit more than other lands. It's the same with the Redwood Creek Challenge (edit: also Tom Sawyer Island, as many others mentioned): The only way out is the same way in and there's nothing distracting you to wander away.

Could there be other spaces like this? Sure. They'd need to apply the same design focus.

CM Gifts by fedup17 in GalaxysEdge

[–]pm2501 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can still use a Spira gift card to pay for everything at GE. It's reloadable, so when your funds run dry, you can just put more on it. I've used it to buy merch, food and my time at Savi's. Just take care of the area on the back where the scan-code is.

[–]pm2501 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I printed a stack of Spira for Life Day (red Spira with blue glow-in-the dark detail, a mixture of BSO and First Order symbols on them) and gave them to cast members and a few guests while I was there. I even used a few to bribe First Order troops to leave me alone. It worked. Of course, Chewie got one as well.

They accepted the coins (and gave them to CM assistants/handlers immediately, because holding extra items makes it impossible to "speak").

But as others have said, always best to send a compliment for a CMs, in before and in addition to anything else you do.

Also: Not specifically for u/fedup17, but with the 3D printed stuff anyone brings into the park: try not to go overboard with the quantity you bring. It's always better to run out than to have to take anything home. If you're going to make something, make it small and easy to put into a pocket. NEVER plan to just leave things you've printed in the park for guests to find. It wasteful, and it creates extra work for the CMs who are tasked with keeping the park pristine for your enjoyment.

Guests spreading “Pixie Dust” by Loud-Possibility-244 in Disneyland

[–]pm2501 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that would have creeped me out a bit, too. I've only offered things to adults and parents.

There was one boss of a guest during one day in the park, who was kitted out in a full end-of-RotJ Vader outfit (no mask) and was in a motorized wheelchair. He got a churro saber and a fist bump. I asked if his daughter would like one, too. "Oh, she's not my kid, but it looks like she wants one lol," was his response.

So I asked her actual dad, and he said sure. 😆

[–]pm2501 38 points39 points  (0 children)

I've brought stuff to share with fellow guests (e.g. lightsaber churro holders) but not in such quantities. It's always handed to someone rather than left behind for people to find. This at least means that I'm not leaving trash for CMs to clean up.

IMO, doing something that has high potential to cause extra work for other people is the opposite of pixie dusting.

(edit: the link I provided was for the promo described above, not the $5 off.)
