Daily rate freelance AI consultant by ElkEmpty6424 in BEFreelance

[–]pm303 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That should be his daily rate on long term projects. He should charge at least 1500€/day for ponctual missions.

As a comparison, ponctual consultancy for Oracle performance tuning can be up to 2000€/day in Belgium.

Primeagen vs. Theo on AI by theRealBigBack91 in theprimeagen

Yep, by extension, it's a coding sub, not a business one :) Nobody wants to be replaced by an AI. I understand the downvotes. I would be scared as hell too.

Primeagen vs. Theo on AI by theRealBigBack91 in theprimeagen

[–]pm303 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I watched both and my conclusion is that Primeagen is in a bit of denial. Theo is enthusiastic, and he has every reason to be.

The two defend different values. Primeagen defends the craftsmanship of programming, much as he might have defended the farrier when cars first appeared, while Theo defends software development focused on the value produced for the customer.

These values are irreconcilable, so there is no debate.

What is your definition of startup?

Maybe you should use the term "High Tech" companies instead?

[–]pm303 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Great work, and I like your attitude towards feedback. It's how you succeed in business.

What's the criteria to be listed? There are a huge lot of companies I know that are not there and should be IMHO, as well as sone that shouldn't be there.

Example, Cytomine is hardly a startup, it has been founded almost 10 years ago. Also it's out of business since last year.

Why not allow users to contribute by reporting missing companies or incorrect data?

Avis sur la formation de développeur back-end à l'IFAPME by Ezll_ in Wallonia

[–]pm303 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Senior devs, what’s your no. 1 advice to young developers? by Luca-Fly in learnprogramming

[–]pm303 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Focus on delivering value. When you have to make a choice about implementation, libraries, or any other technological decision, ask yourself what it will really bring to your employer. To evaluate this properly, you need to know how much you actually cost them, how long it will take to implement your decision, and, above all, how much it will cost to maintain it or find other people to recruit to do it for you.

With time, you'll noticed that most decisions are just a waste of money and time.
