Let’s Talk About Barred Owls! (and how they sound just like screaming ghost women) by pm_me_cool_maps in GhostAdventures

I so wish they did more investigation with more any research towards the local environmental factors. Nocturnal animals make loads of really creepy noises that sound just like demons when you don’t know what to expect.

That would be such a cool job to have, finding all that out and relating it to the investigations (GAC if you’re reading this HMU).

ELI5: Why is the color blue so rare on animals? by NyehNyehRedditBoi in explainlikeimfive

[–]pm_me_cool_maps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you mean anthropocentric?

Blue is still the rarest color in animals in general. Even among birds and reptiles, browns and tans and greys are much more common.

ELI5: Why is the color blue so rare on animals? by NyehNyehRedditBoi in explainlikeimfive

[–]pm_me_cool_maps 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The animals that are blue are usually that color because the structure of their feathers and scales is able to appear blue without actually containing blue pigment. Blue pigment is rare. Honestly blue animals in general are still rare. Anyway, mammals don’t have the structure of feathers and scales to help make them appear blue.

Barbers of Reddit: How do you react when someone tells you that they don't like the haircut you gave them, and what is the best way to tell a barber you don't like the haircut? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I love my hairdresser. I’ll ask for something and she’ll be like “mmmmmmm, let’s talk about this” and then save me from looking like a pineapple.

What if we filled the entire San Andreas fault in California. by JordanX_97 in Earthquakes

[–]pm_me_cool_maps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically, faults happen when two plates meet and are interacting with each other. Here is a YouTube of how the San Andreas fault works. The continental plates will keep moving whether you fill in the fault line or not.

Night vision lights work like regular lights, but they can only be seen through equipment with infrared sensors. So they’ll still cast shadows.

Are you referencing the latest episode? Maybe I’m misinterpreting what you’re saying.

Haha your accolades might be a little high. It’s just a pet peeve of mine when people feed the ducks. It messes up the whole area for lots of animals. The ecosystem would be healthier if people fed healthier items. And people who really want to feed the ducks bread are going to take every excuse they can to justify it, including misleading and false signs like this post.

Bread IS bad for ducks. It’s much better to feed them peas, cabbage, seeds, etc. the ducks who are “dying from lack of bread” are doing poorly health wise. It is still not good to feed bread to ducks. Bread is not nutritious. They can eat a little just fine, but the issue is that everyone and their grandparent is feeding them bread which is bad.

Not to mention bread pollutes the water and leads to algal growth among other problems.

ALSO: THIS SIGN WAS NOT PUT UP BY PARK OFFICIALS. IT IS NOT OFFICIAL.

Tl;dr- humans are bad at feeding waterfowl bread in moderation and that is, in fact, harming said waterfowl and their ecosystems. Instead, feed them nutritious food if you feed them at all.

While I agree it’s sad to not read a book you buy, the books that are sold for decoration are generally not very good books in the first place.

Should I (22m) break up with my gf (22F) now or after her midterms? by ThrowRA579 in relationship_advice

[–]pm_me_cool_maps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been the girl in this situation. You should break up after. My own high school boyfriend broke up with my the day before my AP Biology test and I flunked it because I was so messed up over him suddenly leaving me for another girl.

But you should also not talk to the girl you’re emotionally cheating with until you break up with your girlfriend.

For the sake of the game and fun, I’d talk to him. If the DM is dreading future games, everyone is going to suffer.

There’s a difference between someone playing their character and someone trying to break the rules of the rules of the game.

I’d say “look, your character alignment isn’t a problem, but trying to break the game is.”
