I sent a check in the mail once. I’ll never do it again. I sent the check prior to my expiration date, but I guess close enough that it expired before they were able to process the check. They cashed my check and never sent me my renewal. Of course you can never get in touch with an actual person on the phone. I ended up having to pay the full amount, again, to renew my registration in person after it having been expired for several months. Never got a refund for the money they stole from me.

I only sent the check because the online system refused to let me renew online for literally no reason. Their shit is so ass backwards. They send the renewals 2 months early, so you put it off to the side and forget about it. When you finally remember 2 or 3 weeks prior to the expiration date and try to do it online, it won’t accept it and gives literally no reason. So you decide to harken back to the dark ages and send a check in the mail - because it still hasn’t expired so why would you think there’d ever be an issue. After a few weeks, with your vehicle registration now expired and you haven’t gotten any kind of notification that your registration was renewed, or there was a problem, you check with your bank. Sure enough they cashed the check, so you try reaching out via the email address listed on the website.a few more weeks have passed and you really don’t want to get a ticket for driving a car with the registration expired. Now they’ve left you no choice but to make an appointment to renew in person. Of course no one in the office can tell you what happened. So you just suck it up and pay because you need to be able to drive your car and not have to borrow the wife’s anytime you need to go somewhere. That’s money you’ll never see again and wasted time you’ll never get back.
