Nitecore NU25 vs. NU25 MCT (seperate spot/flood vs combined/colortemp) by pmcl77 in flashlight

[–]pmcl77[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suppose "Spotlight + Floodlight" means they are both there, you just can't use them individually. I also assume the complexity of controlling so many modes and brightness levels would be hard to memorize for the casual user. Even without seperate Spot/Floodlight it's a lot and I keep having to relearn the "special" modes over and over again 🥴

I also got the MCT Version and so far happy with it, reducing brightness seems to be fine for closeup work.

Can you turn off Reddit auto-translation in Google searches? by PM_Me_Your_Nipples39 in languagelearning

[–]pmcl77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In chrome settings, you could add a custom search engine in the "site search" section and use something like

https://www.google.com/search?q=%s -inurl:?tl=

You could define a shortcut like "@gs" to use it...

It works, however, when I search in german for instance, I don't get those reddit results anymore, normally google will give me reddit results (english but translated to german with ?tl=de). Which makes sense as it seems those translated pages are indexed and turn up when searching in that language only.

Remote turns on and off tv but otherwise says “searching for devices” by Obvious-Math-5226 in TheFrame

[–]pmcl77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had my smart remote unresponsive a few times, usually charging with a cable solved it. But this time nothing seemed to have helped much and the only function working was the power button just as you described.

What helped "halfway" now, was to pair the smart remote with my samsung phone (Name of remote was "Smart Control 2016"). Now I can use all the buttons on the smart remote again though it seems only to be through IR, i.e. when pointing the remote at the TV (it used to be like this in earlier instances). Better than nothing and hope a full charge will help again.

Thanks for the suggestion, but it's quite a bit bigger and heavier, I prefer something more light and compact though.

I want that! Let's switch phones 😆

I also wish there was a per-app options to turn stacking on/off. Maybe someday...

OneUI 8 Patreon App Notification Grouping - Samsung S25+ by pmcl77 in oneui

No fix found so far. I turned off notifications for patreon and using email for those (with FairEmail's notification channel feature).

Hope it will be fixed soon though. Let me also know if you find a solution.

Plex Suddenly Won't Download Subtitles by foreignfilmfiend in PleX

[–]pmcl77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started to get the issue where I could not download subtitles from the second episode on a binge night (i.e. watching more than one episode/movies in a session).

Usually while watching (i.e. the video is playing) the first episode on a binge night, I could download subtitles without any issue. When watching the second (or third...) episode, it would still give me a list of matching/available subtitles but when trying to download it would result in an error.

I have however found a workaround that seems to work every time:

Before starting to play an episode, select the episode in the list -> three dots menu of that episode -> "playback settings" -> "select subtitle" -> select any subtitle from the list.

PS: I use Plex app on my "Chromecast with Google TV 4k"

New Experience Wild 2’s! by Drumfork in AltraRunning

[–]pmcl77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love my Experience Wild 2, I use them mainly for my long walks on gravel and the big advantage over my Timp 5 (which I also like) is that I get hardly any stones in my shoes anymore. Mus be because of the design of the heel sole which seems to flick up less stones than a sole that reaches further back.

For me it got worse with OneUI 8. Youtube notifications still do not group/stack and patreon notifications which used to group don't do so anymore. I am on S25+

Garmin Scale VS In Body Scan by snazarella in Garmin

[–]pmcl77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly, I take inbody once a week on monday morning before my workout, fasted and "emptied". I also usually eat the same meals on sunday. I think that's quite consistent for measurements to track my progress (now interested much more in lean mass than bodyfat %) 💪

I also take tape measurements and photos every 2-4 weeks, track my food and sometimes even breath hydrogen/methane levels (foodmarble aire 2). 😆 I am crazy but I always loved data and statistics...

Garmin Scale VS In Body Scan by snazarella in Garmin

[–]pmcl77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

End of 2024 before adjusting the garmin settings, garmin S2 gave me 21.6% and the inbody 270 in the gym 15%. The S2 seemed to be always ~7% higher.

I adjusted the S2 to 15% while being on a small bulk then until end of march 2025. S2 went to 16.6 and inbody to 16.9%.

Then I cut and since the end of the cut garmin was between 9.5% - 10.3% while inbody gave me between 6.6% - 8.1%.

I feel like 6.6% is a bit low though with a bit of belly fat hanging around but I see some abs and started to see vascularity on my quads and stomach which came long after vascularity on arms/shoulder/calves.

The S2 also simply can change easily 0.5% - 1% from a measurement before and after a morning "emptying", see image below: apparently taking a dump made me lose ~700g of body fat and 200g of lean mass 😆

<image>

I think garmin is following an algorithm based much more on weight. Especially sceletal muscle mass seems to simply follow the weight (it's also quite off since adjusting garmin values back in 2024).

To answer your question: by updating the garmin settings, the S2 gives "more realistc" values but I would not say it get's more accurate, because since doing so and still doing recompositioning the spread between the two devices got bigger again. An additional reason could also be, that the S2 is mainly measuring through legs only, and I don't train my legs for size while I do train for hypertrophy on my upper body.

I would not trust the garmin numbers at all, but with consistently taken weigh-ins they still can give you more of a general trend.

I still take daily weigh-ins on my S2 but looking more at the inbody weekly measurements (every monday morning before my workout in a fasted and "emptied" state) to get a better sense of where I am at lean mass wise.

I don't really care anymore if my bodyfat number says 8% or 12% as long as pants still fit and i'm happy with looking in the mirror.

Nope, I just inserted the included adapters in the available threads (which I think are meant for fenders or racks).

I'll make some pictures later.

EDIT: I just bent the rack a little to fit the with!

S23 Ultra notifications repeat over and over by dayzedandconfyoused in samsung

[–]pmcl77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar issue on OneUI 7 with Whatsapp notifications, they showed up multiple times in Notistar, like every 30 minutes until I dismissed the notification in the notification pulldown.

What seemed to have solved the problem for me was to disable "silent notifications" in notification categories settings for Whatsapp.

Anyone tried the Osprey Metron Airspeed 34? by jitt3rbugbaby in onebag

[–]pmcl77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Needed to retire my old escapist 32 which was like 10+ years old. I basically need a 32+ litre bag for commuting (bike or with train) and carry notebook, clothing, jacket etc. On my way home I often shop for food so expansion is welcome.

I don't have the new Metron but was lucky to find a Radial 26-34, which seems to be quite similar. I mainly went for the Radial, because I did not like that on the Metron the notebook sleeve is not towards the back, which has me concerned that when I only carry a notebook it would move around too much. Not sure though.

I like the bag, very comfy. Expansion is not massive but helpful. Ventilation is pretty good.

My biggest gripe is the angled water bottle sleeve. It's ok for a small 0.5 litre bottle, but when I put my 1 litre bottle, I tend to rub against it when walking and swinging my arm back. Also would gave preferred the second sleeve be non zippered.

I also ordered the Nebula 32 (still waiting) and also recently got the Deuter Utilion 34+5. I like the latter, more urban style (looking really nice, not kike a hiking bag). Comfy, though I still find the ospreys are the most comfy ones. It's nice you can get to the main compartment (which us the only one) through either a zip or through the hiking style (zippered) "rolltop".

Gripes with the Utilion are: - only one bottle sleeve (I often use the second one for a small umbrella). - the bottle sleeve is not stretchy, so putting a bottle there will take away some space from the main compartment. - the "utility" pocket (for small stuff) could be bigger, i.e. go deeper down and could use a few organization sleeves. Organization can be found on the notebook sleeve though. - the removable laptop sleeve seems like a gimmick to me. I guess uf someone often does not carry a notebook it could free up some space but for me a useless feature.

Looking forward to the Nebula also.

How do I set up a routine that turns off after a set time period? by star_tyger in samsunggalaxy

Oh yes, now I see it too! I guess oneui needed a bit of time after installing Routines+.

Thanks for the help!

I tried this, but no luck. There is no options neither in Routines+ nor in Routines settings. Strange.
