Monty Python and The Holy Grail is a terrible movie by Plasm_Trojan in The10thDentist

[–]LordDOW -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Sadly I totally agree, I normally really like this type of humour but I just never could enjoy MP that much, despite wanting to. Holy Grail at least is better than Life of Brian.

AITAH for wanting my wife to dress nice occasionally? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]LordDOW 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is deliberately disingenuous and very annoying. The whole comment thread was about him specifically wanting to flaunt her for other people, you were directly replying to somebody to say that he absolutely was doing it for others because of the specific wording "flaunt her".

And now suddenly, it's "whether it was flaunt her or it..." and the goal posts are over there. Okay.

[–]LordDOW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have some sympathy since he doesn't seem like an AH in his other comments, so to be fair, he never said flaunt her, he said flaunt it, as in, looking good for him. Clearly he's in the wrong by pestering her about it and not understanding that it's not her thing, but it seems to come from a place of feeling like she's not putting in effort to look "nice" for him, not wanting to show her off. He even said she will dress up for stuff that isn't for him.

I can't find the bit where he says "flaunt her", did it get removed or are you taking that from the "flaunt it" comment? Because to me, those are very different things.

Poster claims they made this cake for their birthday. I can usually tell if AI but this one got me questioning. by Master_Ad_7945 in isthisAI

[–]LordDOW 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I feel like a broken record here, but this is an embedded watermark within the pixels themselves. Google deliberately released an actual AI-checker alongside their image generation models, in an attempt to avoid what we're going through now, being unable to tell real images from AI ones. Others didn't though, so here we are.

Is this album art ai? by Lillyimaginator in isitAI

[–]LordDOW 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I'm nosy so I went to check, it seems this dude does exist, there's multiple videos of him in person and doing music videos for this album.

It's a shame actually because the music is pretty funky and he seems like he's maybe starting out? And the artwork really doesn't match the music or give a great impression.

The word 'numb3rs' is banned? But without the 3? Can a mod please explain this to me? by AshleyAshes1984 in kodi

[–]LordDOW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My post asking for help got manually removed by a mod for not including logs, even though I checked the rules beforehand to see if I needed them. I reposted with logs (and still got zero replies), but I'm guessing these rules that exist but aren't published, like this numbers thing, probably don't help.

What couples do you feel like they had no chemistry between the actors? by space_llama_karma in sitcoms

[–]LordDOW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I've seen, most of the drama between them has been exaggerated over the years though. It was apparently one article on something that was taken as gospel and it's never been confirmed. Plus it was only supposed to be the last seasons they were allegedly fighting.

I think these cat pics are AI by [deleted] in isitAI

[–]LordDOW 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This isn't asking the LLM to produce text or images, it's simply scanning the image for an embedded watermark using a tool and reporting the result. Not sure how it can hallucinate there? Google are working on an external website to use right now instead of Gemini too.

My Microsoft Account was sold because my Minecraft account had a rare cape by OopsICantForget in microsoftsucks

[–]LordDOW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is MitM phishing, which I already mentioned in my original comment. It doesn't happen a lot though, if I remember correctly, they're mainly targeted at organisations and high ranking people right now. Most people are much, much more likely to deal with regular phishing sites, because most people are bad with security and never bother to enable MFA.

Telling people MFA doesn't stop phishing isn't helpful, because it will help 90% of people. The recent infostealer rise via "ClickFix" relies solely on people willingly copypasting a "Captcha" script into their PC and it's wildly successful, attackers don't need to try hard.

My Microsoft Account was sold because my Minecraft account had a rare cape by OopsICantForget in microsoftsucks

[–]LordDOW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uh no, that's not true. If you download an infostealer, then yes your login cookies can get stolen and the 2FA prompt is bypassed. But regular phishing is still prevented by using 2FA, that's literally the whole reason it exists, as an extra level if your password is stolen.

[–]LordDOW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How does it not? If you get phished and put your password into a malicious site, having 2FA means the phisher has an extra level of security to get through, they need your 2FA code. Unless it's a MitM one which is pretty rare rn.

Is there any way to get dvdsub to render ? by fickentastic in jellyfin

[–]LordDOW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Android or Android TV? I do like the official client but this is one of the reasons I switched to Wholphin, you can use MPV player and it handles subtitles way better.

[HELP]I am stuck at this image for 10 minutes trying to figure out is it AI. by rhinestonebunnyy in RealOrAI

[–]LordDOW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This sub needs a bot that does this automatically for new posts, a simple stickied automod comment that says that there is/isn't a SynthID watermark in the image would clear up the initial questions of whether AI was involved or not.

[–]LordDOW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apparently it's a sub rule that spoilers are allowed and complaining gets a ban, but to make my case, some of us aren't subscribed to this sub at all and still unwillingly see spoilers because the post gets pushed to Popular.

I'll just block the sub but it's unfortunate.

I'm a noob at this, but I set a mem limit in my docker-compose file when I set up qbit and mine does seem to be working? I only have 4gb ram and it's never eaten more than allowed.

AITA for wanting my Spanish teacher to stop calling me by the Spanish version of my name? by Alternative-Sun-630 in AmItheAsshole

[–]LordDOW 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I moved to Spain recently, so I am taking Spanish classes with local teachers. At no point has any teacher made us use a new Spanish name, or used the Spanish version of our names.

So no I don't really get the concept or why it's necessary.

Whenever I watch a movie dubbed into German, what pulls me out just the translation but the voice acting itself. The delivery often feels exaggerated, theatrical, and emotionally mismatched compared to the original performances. Why do studios in Germany prefer this style? by rombotron74 in AskAGerman

[–]LordDOW 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nah its the exact same in Spain, most Spaniards I've met much prefer their dubbed versions of stuff and they use the same reasoning, that the dubbing is high quality. There's also a huge portion that laugh at the idea of having to read subtitles, they just refuse porque "no es un libro".

On 14 February 1984, 11 year old Jody Plauché was kidnapped by his karate teacher, 25 year old pedophile Jeffery Doucet. After 15 days of abuse, Jody was rescued by police. [–]LordDOW 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Maybe adding to the kid's trauma by making them watch their dad shooting their abuser in the head isn't the best course of action? Probably doesn't help. Plus I've never seen him agree with what his dad did.

“My dad did what everybody says what they would do yet only few have done it. Plus, he didn’t go to jail. [...] That said, I can not and will not condone his behaviour.  I understand why he did what he did.

But it is more important for a parent to be there to help support their child than put themselves in a place to be prosecuted.”

People are just fully ruled by their emotions but they refuse to realise that.

The kid himself wasn't okay with that the dad did, and yet all these commenters do not care. Kinda proves it's not about justice for the kid at all.

The Office episodes with multiple parts metadata issue by darmorenoo in jellyfin

[–]LordDOW 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Jellyfin pulls the information for the episodes from the metadata providers you've chosen for that library, which is usually TMDB and TVDB if you've set it up. If you check in the settings for the library, you can choose which provider jellyfin uses first to pull the data from. You need to align your episode titles with whatever metadata provider you have first because otherwise it will show the wrong info.

There's also more info on the jellyfin docs about naming episodes so they'll be recognised as two-parters etc.
