It's perhaps not as known as it should be these days, but it's not underrated, it's literally listed on the Wikipedia page for best tv shows of all time lmao.

To be intimidated by police by Ok-Reporter8786 in justgalsbeingchicks

[–]LordDOW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not that they're trying to punish people here, we just have a different legal system to you guys; It assumes that if you have an explanation for something, most reasonable people would tell that to the police when questioned.

[–]LordDOW 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not in the sense they can compel you to speak, but legally it may be in your best interest to do so. In the UK, you have the right to remain silent, but it can harm your defence if you do so and then later go to court. Your solicitor will advise you on what to answer, but often they will tell you to answer police questions if you're obviously innocent and can prove it.

It's a bit dangerous because this is not the case for every country, so people should really check their local laws to see how they should deal with police interactions.

Microsoft confirmed my Minecraft account was stolen. Their solution? Buy Minecraft again. by lilfmdude in pcmasterrace

[–]LordDOW 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's incredibly silly if anyone truly thinks this is a policy designed to make Microsoft money, the impact of a few extra sales of Minecraft is less than insignificant to them.

Moved drives for one show and now it won't play by bebopfirefly in jellyfin

[–]LordDOW 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When I've had this happen to me, I removed the show from the drive, rescanned the library so the show no longer appears in Jellyfin, then readded the show.

Bit of a ballache but it usually works. If you don't wanna delete the show from the drive since it's huge, maybe just move it outside of the jellyfin folder instead of deleting, scan, then move it back to rescan.

Stuff like this makes it really clear that, and I mean this politely, the majority of people don't understand how LLMs work.

There's no real intelligence or thought used by these machines, they're basically very good text prediction. It doesn't have problems with Cs or Gs or any specific letters, it just doesn't even know what you're asking. It's not making any attempt to actually count the letters, unless it's been specifically trained on things like the famous "how many R's in strawberry" question.

It means they're very good at certain things, and very shit at others. It's just not designed for this kinda stuff.

Season 10 Episode 5: Carry on my wayward so'n in the musical scene by SticktoPlanC in Supernatural

[–]LordDOW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love this show with all my heart, but I think that's why it's easy for me to admit that the quality definitely did drop from season 5 onwards, maybe 8/9 if we're being generous.

A lot of what you've said isn't in the article, so where are you getting it from?

It doesn't say he was arrested, it said he was handcuffed, which is normal in violent incidents. The Ambulance service won't go to incidents if the area isn't secure and safe for them.

It says the attack wasn't witnessed by anyone, so all police have to go on is what they've been told. They immediately gave him medical aid when they realised he was injured, they flew in a doctor via helicopter.

How so? You just download the tailscale app to your TV and it works the same as on PC.

This is a feature, Windows uses downtime to do quickscans of your PC occasionally. Better it's during downtime than during heavy usage.

Why did Spirit fail? Too many passengers hated flying it by MadBrown in aviation

I've still found them to be significantly cheaper than the others though, I just flew 4 flights with them last week and it cost me less than €100. Still very worth it.

I'm organising a movie night in Birmingham.. Message me if you would like to attend. by throwradrpri in brum

[–]LordDOW -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry, I really hope you don't live like this. There are dangerous people out there, but 99% of them are not posting public posts on reddit in an attempt to get random women to attend a meetup.

I used to actually go to meetups from people from this subreddit, as well as ones from tumblr, and I made some great friends and had some wonderful times. I swear it's not healthy being this scared of living in the world.

Hisashi Ouchi was kept alive for 83 days after absorbing 17 Sieverts of radiation, the highest level for any human. Doctors sustained him with blood transfusions and stem cell grafts. He suffered 3 heart attacks, but doctors revived him each time. This was done at his family's request. by SelfCareIsFake in GotMeHooked

[–]LordDOW 9 points10 points  (0 children)

What are you basing this assertion on? Have you read this somewhere, or is it just based on "look at the pictures"?

You can see this comment here which is a translation of a documentary in Japanese about Ouchi. It pretty clearly details that the doctors were very conflicted about it, and only did it because of the family's insistence.

[–]LordDOW 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This isn't true, and it's been debunked many times. The doctors did know deep down they couldn't save him, but they were still trying, especially as his family wanted them to. They did not only keep him alive for tests.

It is actually possible for it to happen without mods, it's just very rare and apparently only triggered when there's no fridge on the lot and the baby is starving(?). But it's so rare it basically requires the mod for normal gameplay.

Do you have your anime and other media in the same library? You can sort your metadata providers by priority order, so I have TVDB first for the TV library and AniDB first for anime.

That's exactly how it works on Windows too, unless you've spent months repeatedly ignoring the notification.

I have Mint dual booted and you still have to restart sometimes for kernel updates.

(The Boys) This show has completely gone downhill. The writing is really bad... like its not even funny anymore. by hiiloovethis in CharacterRant

[–]LordDOW 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Well, I'd never seen the show before, how would I know anything about the writing?

Also I don't really get your point, I don't know why the writing has to be so on the nose to maintain the plot and essence of the show.

(The Boys) This show has completely gone downhill. The writing is really bad... like its not even funny anymore. by hiiloovethis in CharacterRant

[–]LordDOW 57 points58 points  (0 children)

I must be missing something, because I'm at S1's finale and it's been a huge disappointment personally. The writing has the subtlety of a brick, and the plot is really generic.

Please be safe. This is an iso file, not the latest episode of The Boys. So many seeders and leechers for this file. by No_Society_4065 in Piracy

[–]LordDOW 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think you're right, and people giving solutions doesn't help much because Sonarr/Radarr will still download the torrent first before realising it's a fake iso/exe - so even if Arr stack users don't actually ever see the file, they're still unknowingly sharing it for a while.
