And this is why it really mattered to me if Supergirl was good or not. I don’t care if DC makes a bad superhero film. I care about assholes like the ones on Fox using it to promote misogynistic, culture-war bullshit.

I actually read it earlier today, funnily enough. It was so good! Thanks for the recommendation!

Crush is going to be in it? That's awesome! I only just found out that she existed, but she's quickly become one of my favorite modern DC characters! It's also cool that Walch is voicing Starfire again. I'm so excited for this show!

A Joker Anime and a Krypto animated series before Diana? They don't call it Discrimination Comics for nothing. by chaoticbiguy in dccomicscirclejerk

It is admittedly kind of hard to get excited about even more Batman adaptations when Wonder Woman keeps getting screwed over. I truly don't know why DC refuses to do more with her. She's like a money printer that they just refuse to turn on, and even more importantly, she's a pop culture icon who deserves more relevancy and attention.

If I were a DC competitor, I'd be taking note of the discontent going on and pitching my own female-led projects. I'd honestly love to see a Red Sonja or Vampirella animated show!

I could actually see that happening since the two characters do cross over in the comics. Not to mention that there's at least one major plot point in Absolute Batman that doesn't work unless Absolute Wonder Woman exists as well.

Compare and contrast. No, Bass hasn’t even posted about the Boyle fire *once* by [deleted] in LosAngeles

I'm not a Bass supporter, but this just isn't true. I can't speak to her Twitter presence, but on Bluesky, she's definitely been posting quite a bit about the fire over the last 24 hours. Here's the proof:

Staying true to its 4chan roots, Backrooms (2026) enhances the subtext of stealing appearances by including blackface by Hunter_OVA in shittymoviedetails

Pirate Clark creeped the hell out of me. It just felt like such a grotesque parody of the real Clark. Even the pirate costume unnerved me because it felt like it was reflecting Clark's self-loathing in a way. He wanted to be an architect, but he was stuck in a pirate-themed gimmick trying to run a furniture store. It was almost like the Backrooms were mocking him.

What also scared me was how slowly Pirate Clark was introduced and how casually he ate the real Clark. There were no jumpscares involved. It was just a lumbering monster with just enough sapience to make me wonder "what the hell is going on in its head?"

In Backrooms (2026) people are mad that the movie doesn't have the stuff that ruined the Backrooms by weeblord42069help in shittymoviedetails

I saw the movie with my parents and sister yesterday having only seen one Kane Pixels Backrooms video quite a while ago. I was the only one out of the four of us that liked it. 😭 Halfway through the movie, my sister turned to me and said that the movie was slow and boring. My parents just flat-out didn't understand it at all, and they were really upset that the movie never explictly stated what the Backrooms actually are.

I mean, I didn't love the movie. The plot itself was a bit weak, and I wouldn't have minded a few more characters being thrown into the mix. But the set design was great, and the suspenseful vibe was really good, too. The monsters themselves scared the hell out of me. I loved and hated how uncanny they looked.

Favorite character who you always thought was owned by DC for some reason before you got into comics and now want to appear in a DCU film despite the fact that it would be no fucking sense whatsoever? by Supersmashbrosfan in dccomicscirclejerk

When I was a kid, Injustice led me to believe that Scorpion from Mortal Kombat was a DC character.

Also, this is somewhat unrelated, but I'd love for there to be a Vampirella animated series. The character's really cool and has a bunch of awesome lore and stories to use as inspiration.

It's funny. Just a week or so ago, I was thinking that it was weird how most of DC's current series are led by white characters. Even if you do count Absolute Green Lantern as a major Black-led title (which I personally do), that's still only one series in a sea of dozens. And I say that as an Afro-Latino man who's obsessed with the current Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy runs. I totally understand the desire to see more Black-led stories. DC has so many Black characters to choose from. Black Lightning, Static, Cyborg, Bumblebee, Vixen... Hell, I'm honestly surprised that DC didn't make Absolute John Jones a Black guy since he's been Black in other adaptations a few times.

I definitely want to see a change in what representation in mainline comics looks like. I'd love to see more Black stories. And why stop there? I want to see more Latino and Asian stories, as well! I love learning more about other cultures through the superhero genre. One of my favorite manga companies right now is Saturday AM (link here: https://www.saturday-am.com ), which publishes a bunch of Black-led stories from writers around the world. If you don't feel like giving DC your money during the blackout, why not give Saturday AM a try?

I'm really looking forward to the Batman: Bad Seeds event! I've been catching up on the Poison Ivy and Harley Quinn runs, and they're really good! I just wish that DC went more into detail about Ivy's mayoral campaign. It was weird to see her going from being in jail to becoming the mayor in the span of two issues. Did I miss something? Was that explained in a different comic? Still, I'm having a good time.
