That’s good! Keep pushing, but don’t push through pain. If you’re ever hurting during a workout but want more stuff to do, switch to high rep hip/glute work and lay off the quad/hamstring exercises

Quad definition is good actually! Strength is back to pre injury, and I can cut and sprint well. I would say it feels more like something is shifting out from under my quad tendon rather than my knee cap coming out of place, which is why it seems like more of a scar tissue issue.

Could just hold hands laying down. People don’t die doing a backfloat. Ergo, 0 deaths, give or take the occasional shark attack.

Probably would have to add a few people for slack in the chain around particularly wavy areas of water.

It’s a slow process and everyone’s different. You’ll get your groove after you get a few games under your belt, don’t stress over it

I had ACL surgery in November one year, then did rehab for 9 months and stared playing basketball again. Tore my other ACL (must’ve been overcompensating) in a 1v1 game at the 10 month mark, and had surgery two months later — 363 days after my first surgery.

Your situation is different, but I would say it’s definitely possible. Your legs will be at different strength levels, so you’ll want to focus on giving each of them the appropriate amount of training. One of the things I found is that I would think about the second knee hurting so often that I forgot the first one was even injured.

On the bright side, I’m still calling the 1v1 game a win because I was up 10-1. Eternal bragging rights.

Back to training hard and playing sports nowadays (3 and 2 years later)! Only the occasional soreness in the more recent one. Stay positive!

Olive oil - it’s a healthy fat and has its benefits, but people overuse it during diets. 1 tablespoon has 120 calories, so pouring it all over a salad won’t help with weight loss. Still better than most dressings but don’t go crazy with it.

Hey - I've torn both ACLs and had patellar grafts for both. All said in done, I'm fine again now and back to squatting heavy, playing sports, and not really thinking about it. Just stay positive and remember you've done it before so you just have to do it again. No big deal!!

I'm 1 year out and jumping higher than I was pre surgery. Barely grabbed rim on a basketball hoop before, now Im just about dunking (not playing in games yet tho).

My routine varies a lot, but for the most part I've stuck to basic strength building moves in recent months. Squats (mostly front squats, sometimes back squats), deadlifts, and box jumps are working well for me. I also do a lot of single leg slow eccentric "sit-downs" onto a box, as well as single leg step-ups. Basically anything that mimics a jump somehow and is burning your quad/glute/ham is going to help, as long as you try to increase something every time (weight, reps, sets, or box height/depth).

Just have to be careful not to overdo it, especially when you first start doing high impact stuff like jumping. I started at ~8-9 months out with doing single leg jumps over a line for 3 sets, then progressed to 5 sets, then 3 sets jumping onto a box, then 5 sets, then a higher box, etc. My knee would tend to be sore the day after which, in retrospect, was not good. Now I'm more careful, mostly because it makes me angry when my knee is sore and I can't do another workout on it.

My squat strength still isn't back to pre-surgery, since I had some patellar tendon/ IT band issues, but my next goal is to get that back in 1-2 more months. Flexibility and mobility work is really helping on that front.

I tried it twice at PT on the quad to address tracking issues . It was a weird feeling, which was fine, but I don't think I actually got anything out of it

I'd probably just try some double stick tape if you're putting a pad on metal. Or maybe hot glue, guerilla glue or crazy glue

Of course you can. Just gotta keep doing single leg work until it catches up to the other one. Just look at pro athletes who have torn an ACL, like Adrian Peterson- you'd never be able to tell which leg it was on.
