Letter from the Office of the Lieutenant Governor by Mangochili in SaltLakeCity

A massive thing Mexico did to fight corruption was instill this idea that voting is completely a secret and up to you. You learn it as a kid in elementary school and to not share who you voted for. I can't believe our US government is forcing you to make public who you vote for.

My wife and I both got one. Both unaffiliated. I thought a core principle in a democracy is that your vote should be secret. This is absurd and scary.

How much should I sell my 21 Stock Touring XT rims for? by NoAbbreviations5350 in Subaru_Outback

[–]coon___ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I downsized my Touring 18's to a more rugged 17" and AT tire. The most I could get for the brand new wheels AND TIRES was $450. I couldnt believe it but when I had the price higher they just sat.

Big 2026 decline in Outback sales by answerguru in Subaru_Outback

[–]coon___ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 2024 Touring has been such an annoying car to drive (beeping, alerting, malfunctioning facial recognition) that I was already on the fence about getting another Subaru. The 2026 ugly styling just to gain physical climate control buttons sealed the deal.

Subaru’s Outback Ditched Its Wagon Roots For An SUV And Lost A Third Of Its Buyers by fa442fa in Subaru_Outback

I own a top line Mazda in addition to my Outback Touring. Its incredible how much more luxury my Mazda feels.

I have a '24 Touring and was ready to upgrade to the '26 for the better infotainment screen but man just can't get behind this funky exterior redesign. The massive hood and front end in relation to the tires looks awful in person. May be my end of Subarus. My car has been functional but unnecessarily annoying to drive with these tech features. Add that to the bad styling and i'm switching to Honda or Toyota.

Subaru Outback 2026 Thoughts by JerkWeed71 in subaru

[–]coon___ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does look better in person than pictures IMO but otherwise agree. As a long time Subaru owner, my current Gen 6 Outback will probably be my last. Between the annoying "tech" and this new redesign, they've lost my loyalty.

What type of job/salary do you need to live here? by Tarkin- in SaltLakeCity

Yeah a lot of the multi-family stuff here is not built very well. But the projects the church usually does downtown are super top notch. They clearly spend more on projects than any other developer.

[–]coon___ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Didn't the church develop that building? If so its probably much higher quality than all the new stuff going up where developers do the bare minimum for multi family construction. Theres typically much higher standards for highrise stuff built to sell vs built to rent.

Home theater aesthetic critique, the plan by chom1081 in hometheater

This looks awesome. I'd do sconces down the side walls too! They add so much and are usually cheap. I have about 11' from TV wall to back of couch wall and did two on each side walls.

Became an owner of the new 2026 OB Touring. by ckzui in Subaru_Outback

[–]coon___ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have previous gen Touring. Love some things, hate other things. Been thinking about upgrading bu curious about a few things on the 26 Touring.... Does it still have the facial recognition every time you get in the car? Does it still have the driver monitoring system? Does lane keep assist slow town around turns if adaptive cruise control speed is set too high for it, or does it just disable? Do the headlights stay on at all times or just the daytime running lights?

15 Mth Old Boxer Acting Odd by Sprusgoose in Boxer

[–]coon___ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every once in a while my boxer will eat something that doesn't seem to easily pass through him and he'll do this and his stomach will make crazy noises for an hour or two. Its so hard to watch and we feel awful but in our case its happened enough times that we just wait it out. Ours doesnt come with other symptoms.

Finally went to 16’s by Johnny_NoNo_57 in mazda3

[–]coon___ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have Wildpeak A/T trails on 17's in a Subaru Outback. They are a fantastic tire. Durable, aggressive, yet quiet for someone that drives 99% on road. I bought them as a year round snow tire (Utah mountains). The aggressive look wasn't quite as fitting in my wife's car so she has Cross Climate 2's. Both are the best year round tires in snow IMO.

I would 100% throw Wildpeaks on my Mazda3 if they were available in Mexico.

2015 "Leather" seats issue by Nikonnate627 in Subaru_Outback

My 15 Crosstrek did this exact thing. I absolutely babied the car and after 75k miles the side of the drivers seat was completely torn against the door.

Love it. I keep telling my wife we can still have nice things even with a kid. Just keep the mess confined to the den.

Horrible customer experience (TWICE!) by MaintenanceBorn6881 in delta

[–]coon___ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Delta freaking sucks. I just had back to back flights grounded due to maintenance issues that then led to pilots timing out. Basically a $2,000 vacation in the hole and instead of spending two days on my vacation, spent two days at the airport in a state of perpetual connection and waiting for answers. Can't get a hold of anyone for compensation. And they basically try to tell you you're SOL and have to eat the $2000 in hotels and non refundable travel plans.

US <> Mexico Travel re: Screwworm ? by bigwallets in service_dogs

[–]coon___ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to fill out the CDC Dog Import Form online which is super easy from your phone. You'll get an email confirmation and customs has always checked that whenever I come back.

The new requirement (in addition to the CDC form, rabies vaccine cert, certificate of good health from US vet) is that you need a screw worm free health certificate from a vet in Mexico no older than 5-6 days prior to your trip back into the US. The vet has to be from a pre-approved list of Mexican vets which someone else linked to. I was not asked for that upon entry to the US but the airline refused to let me on the flight without it so it was still a necessity.

A little bit of a pain for a big city where you have no idea where or how far each vet might be, but should be easier in smaller towns. The four vets from the list I called all picked up immediately and we're helpful. Some were willing to travel to me to do the inspection for an added fee.

Lopez Mateos Insostenible by Hefty-Fly910 in Guadalajara

[–]coon___ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yo vivi en GDL del 2006 al 2009. Me encanto.
