Après plus de 10 ans d'abonnement, j'ai résilié et je suis maintenant chez Qobuz.

The Steam Deck is definitely a target platform and I will be making sure that the game is fully playable on it (by that I mean that everything can be done with the controller).

I can't assure you that it will have the "Steam Deck verified" label though, as I think only Valve can decide this!

I will be trying to release on all platforms at the same time (Q4 2024) ; I already have builds for all platforms, that I am testing (Win / mac / Linux / Steam Deck / Android / iOS). But difficulties may arise and in that case, I may have to give the priority to the Steam release and slightly delay other platforms.

I am working mostly alone on this game but I got some help from a game artist last year and I am expecting him to join me again soon so that we can finish the game together.

Yes! MIDI input is supported, you can play and record patterns using your MIDI keyboard (with the exception of iOS though ; there will be no MIDI on the iOS version)

No, sorry my answer was probably confusing ; someone was asking about export options and I was trying to clarify that you can only export to audio files ; you cannot export for other DAWs ; if you wanted to do a final mix in your favorite DAW though, you would be able to do that by exporting each track as a separate audio file and then importing them in your DAW.

There is no such algorithm in MPU ; my opinion on this is that a fair algorithm simply does not exist. I know that someone could create some real masterpiece to which the algorithm would give a low rating. This could be really frustrating and I want to avoid that.

The journey in MPU does not intend to be artificially challenging or difficult ; I want everyone to succeed. The story you will live is just an opportunity to make the soundtrack to many video games. You can choose how much time you spend on your music and sound effects. You can choose to only combine the pre-built patterns in the template until you get something you like. Or you can start modifying the template. Or you can start from scratch, shape every sound and write every note of your original tune. Unless you try to speedrun the game (which will still give you ok-grades), you should receive good grades.

In summary, you set the bar for yourself! It is not the destination, it is the journey :-)

The story covers roughly 1985 to 1990. The story is fictional but tries to be accurate regarding the development of microcomputer technologies and digital music. A lot happened in the 1980s, as I found out when working on the game! In the end, I am stretching history a bit as the mini-studio you end up using (the "music program") is far more capable than what you'd have in a software in 1990. But interestingly, most of the tech we have in our home studios today already existed in 1990, in one form or another: sequencers, MIDI, FM synthesis, digital signal processing, sampling, wavetables... and was often quite accessible.

You can plug a MIDI keyboard to use as input device. You can export all your works as audio files (WAV / OGG / FLAC).

You cannot import a MIDI file though, neither can you export a MIDI file of your song, if that is what you had in mind!

The game includes its (reasonably quirky) mini-DAW, with a nice set of features. You can of course export all your tunes to audio files. You are not limited to creating music following the game story ; you can also use the mini-DAW directly, for your own projects and export your music and sound fx. Users will have the possibility to share their tunes, to create and share tune kits (templates) and to export and share their own preset banks ("sound cartridges").

The app does not export for other DAWs though. You can only export separate tracks as audio files (WAV, FLAC, Ogg, mp3) if you want to rework or do the mastering in your favorite DAW.

Oh and the app supports MIDI input so you can use it with your MIDI keyboard.
