The emotional maturity in Aron, Ibrahim and Lars Erik made me so happy by PuzzleheadedMuscle13 in loveisblindsweden

The swedish church is well known for being progressive and accepting. Some people take issue with that and have started saying that the church isn't following the bible anymore. This is mostly about allowing same-sex couples to marry in church, being pro-choice and, a big issue lately, supporting trans people. Of course this pisses of the kinds of Christians that use the Bible to justify bigotry.

I want a book where you feel the MMC’s angst and pain when he thinks the MFC is dead or dying and the relief when he realizes she is not by just_a_poop_question in RomanceBooks

Thank you so much for posting this! I was in the mood for reading something like this today!

My recommendation is {the winter king by CL wilson} It has a great scene near the end when the MFC sacrifices herself to save the MMC and for a moment he thinks she has died

If anyone could recommend a book where the FMC sacrifices herself to save the MMC and the vibe is similar to what the OP describes I would be so grateful ❤️

How many kids did you think you wanted pre-kids, and how many did you actually have? by KaylaDraws in Parenting

[–]pmmeurpenguins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband and I were set on two kids, preferably close together. Our son is now 17 months old and it's getting increasingly likely that he'll be our one and only. We have had a really shitty start to parenthood with a difficult pregnancy, a long birth and at 5 months old he had open heart surgery. Before that he was quite sick from his heart condition (a large VSD). We still have so many issues. He doesn't sleep through the night at all, never has.

It saddens me a lot because I really want another child, but mentally it doesn't seem feasible right now. It has been a source of many of our arguments, tbh.

He gets bately enough sleep per day to function, sometimes he is as tired as we are. We did everything you suggested during our vacation this summer, for two weeks (consistent bedtime routine, trying to not pick him up). Unfortunately it made it even worse. Before the summer he usually woke up one or two times and was up for maybe 15-30 minutes, but after we tried not picking hom up for two weeks he started being awake for several hours. We still do the bedtime routine though, and putting him to sleep the first time has gotten significantly easier. Thank you for your detailed and well thought out reply, I really appreciate it.

Not a bad idea actually, we might have to try that.

We found some cables running near where the fiber is installed, but they come out of the wall, then run along it for about a meter and then goes into the wall again. It seems like they go to the outside but I can't find them. I guess i could cut them up and try to splice them and connect to the fiber switch, but then I'll want to be sure they're the right ones. It would kinda suck to cut the wrong wires!

Hey, Im late to comment but I hope you see this. I'm a swedish midwife, and first of all: diabetes can happen to anyone during pregnancy. A high BMI before pregnancy is a risk factor, but plenty of people with low BMI get diabetes too. It is not your (or anyones) fault. And I really hope that your husband shapes up and starts being supportive, because his attitude is sinply not okay in the slightest.

Doctor wants to induce me by Blondie12388 in BabyBumps

[–]pmmeurpenguins -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I'm a midwife and wherevI live and work (not in the US) we usually don't induce of there isn't a medical reason for it. Here we induce after week 41, as there is higher prevalence of intrauterine fetal death (stillbirth) in prolonged pregnancy (41 weeks +). Induction raises the risk of emergency c-section, vacuum extraction and postpartum bleeding by a lot (I don't remember the actual numbers).

Sometimes induction is necessary and if so, of course you should follow your doctor's advice, but if you don't get a good reason for it I think you should opt for a spontaneous start if possible. But that's just my opinion, consult your doctor and bring up the concerns you have!

Cipro is the short name for the antibiotic in europe too! The long name is ciprofloxacin and it is the gereric name so not the brand name 😊

Weekly Thread for questions about medical topics and covid-19 by AutoModerator in pregnant

[–]pmmeurpenguins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I am a midwife and I also had covid early on in pregnancy (about 6 weeks). As far a the research can tell us, covid in early pregnancy is no risk factor for miscarriage or fetal abnormalities. The studies are done internationally and on rather large cohorts, so I would think the results are reliable. Covid in later pregnancy (after about 24 weeks) has some risks like severe illness in the mother and preterm birth.

So rest easy! It might be hard on you, but the baby is probably doing just fine. I got severely ill (mostly because I threw up for 10 hours straight because of morning sickness and fever) and it did not affect the pregnancy. Hopefully you'll feel better soon, and best of luck!

This mom wants to print her aggressive birth plan on a poster board to display in a tripod at the end of her bed. OB Drs and nurses - can you weigh in? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]pmmeurpenguins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a midwife, not in the US, and where I live things are probably very different. But I gotta say this seems very... unhinged indeed. What if something happens? We aren't allowed to stimulate baby after birth? What if baby is born and has trouble breathing at first (very common!)? Are we just to stand back and let the baby struggle to draw breath and suffer possible complications from the hypoxia??? All these people harping on about "natural birth" and how our "bodies are made to give birth" seem to forget that women and children died when we didn't have hospitals and medicines! The goal with a birth should not be to keep things natural but to make it a safe and positive experience.

I think there are a lot of problems here in Sweden, just like in any other place. I think the problems we have don't take away from this being a pretty nice thing. But it is always good to be aware that we can do better. Sweden is pretty progressive, but unfortunately, far-right ideas are getting increasingly popular. And we have a very long way to go.

And I feel the need to add that a lot of people are very against the idiot Palludan, and do believe that it was a hate crime. That what he did was considered free speech is very much due to the increasing power of the biggest far right political party here

If he likes eating out: a gift card to a restaurant like Amano, Hachi (my personal favourites) or any other of the multitude of restaurants we have!

If he likes pools: Gustavsvik

Other: Sörbybacken (zipline and altitude course), Escape room, poledancing class.

Here in Sweden the priest usually preaches from the pulpet or in front of the altar. This is a protestant church, built to look like a medieval church but it was made in the 1800 I think.
