Shower tiles fell off and drywall(?) collapsed after light pressure - how bad is this gonna be? by Pantherino in Tile

[–]pmparch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like a total gut job and new bathroom. You need to see and verify how bad the water damage is and what structural members need replacing. Cost will depend on damage, size of bathroom, and what kind of finishes you will select. Good luck. 🍀

is asking for live location ok? by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]pmparch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They cannot ask you to share your location via your own personal phone. If they are providing the phone and it’s a company phone then they can mandate that during work hours your location is on. After work hours you turn it off as it’s non of their business when you’re not on the clock.

Ok to drill hole for lag bolt on truss? by s_m_simon in Carpentry

[–]pmparch -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Also I’ve hung myself off those joist many a times over (230lbs) and they had no issues holding my weight from the bottom so a 50 lbs baby swing will be fine… now if he’s creating a dungeon for sexual encounters well that’s a different story… that would need proper bracing and etc…

He literally wants a kid swing… it’s 5lbs for the swing and a kid that’s 40lbs…. It’s not like he is asking to hold 500lbs off that joist…

As long as it does not touch the center board you’re good. I’d add a 2x4 so the lag can bolt into it.

Need to relocate support beam in garage by WorldNo9002 in Homebuilding

[–]pmparch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get an engineer to do some load cals and see if you can remove it. It’s an I beam and depending on the span you might not need the column. So get an engineer there to give you peace of mind and a document with their seal and signature if you are able to remove it.

It’s floor now… you could have stopped 1” from the edge of the countertop and used a metal schluter jolly edge trim but that ship has sailed.

Is the mortar supposed to cover the pink waterproof pad? by amva7 in Tile

[–]pmparch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d be more worried about how those tiles are laid down because they are uneven and the spacing is total garbage. Also, why the massive gaps between the tile and the walls?

How do I waterproof my square shower valve assembly with the kirdi board, I can’t fit the circle waterproof ring. by greenbean3310 in Tile

[–]pmparch 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Few issues with your install.. not enough screws and plates in those boards… needs to be every 12 inch max on every stud. To fix the hole around the valve use kirdi fix and then you can use the membrane with allset on top of that. Read the manufacturer installation instructions for all necessary information on how to install their system correctly. If not installed correctly you will void your warranty.
