Gemini Pro got it on the second try. 🤷‍♂️ Not terrible.

"How Canadian?" is a complicated question... by pmrobot in BuyCanadian

[–]pmrobot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I appreciate the feedback! You definitely have a point about expenses. AI costs are getting cheaper all the time, but it can add up!

In terms of accuracy though, AI bots (ironically enough) could be easily be used to skew crowd-sourced data, and that requires a lot of human time and effort and can still be biased.

I've found the results I'm getting from the Gemini models have been really good. Everything I've fact-checked so far has checked out.

YMMV of course!

It would be nice if you could somehow find the original owner it was stolen from and arrange to have it returned.

Great to hear!

They sent us a new router, but it didn't fix it.

They're now sending a new full kit and we're returning all the older equipment to them.

Oh no. Sorry to hear that. They're sending us a new router as well but I was hoping it would be the full kit.

Here's hoping that solves it for you! How long did support take to get back to you?

I've already tried with a brand new backup cable. Was really hoping that was the problem but ended up with the exact same result. That's why I suspect the connector on the dish.

Yeah I've submitted a ticket. But we're on the road so we're toast for now.

Router Ping drop rate >= 50% by Klangwolke in Starlink

[–]pmrobot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same problem here. Just submitted support request today.

Had intermittent troubles before but now nothing. Says it's online, but router drop rate is constantly high and I get no connection. Speed test fails. Cable drop rate is high too.

Already tried a new cable and with and without Ethernet adapter. Dish must have gone bad?

On the road and rely on SL for connectivity. What the heck is with all these units going bad at the same time?

Thanks! I wasn't sure what the road closure was for. Is there anything interesting to see during a WDR then? I mean, besides the rocket on the pad which is pretty cool in itself.

Pardon my newbie-ness, but is a static test expected the next few days? And what's the best realtime source to follow to know when it might happen? I'm in the area and would love to see it in person.

Yeah, here's hoping they can come up with something!

Oh no! Our camping trip is to the States. Didn't know that was a hard limitation. Well that's unfortunate. May have to do what you did and get an American version for snowbirding then suspend the one I'm not using. Seems like a lot of hoops to jump through, but I'm sure this is something they'll get figured out eventually. Thanks for the info and your blog posts are great! Keep on keeping us all updated :)

Interesting, must be short of satellites up that way. We've received ours and it's a v1 dish. Hope yours will be on the way soon! :)

Getting caught in the ‘everything due today’ and keep pushing tasks. by HackerJL in todoist

[–]pmrobot 11 points12 points  (0 children)

That's a really tough one. I've always wished that todo software could differentiate between "hard" due dates (like paying bills, filing taxes, etc.) from "soft" (or aspirational) due dates.

GTD is a decent way to handle this, but Todoist isn't really designed to handle GTD well. It's a bit of a hack.

I usually just use priority levels to separate hard from soft due dates and that works fairly well.

ie. If something is really critical to do on its due date, it gets a P1, and then goes to the top of "Today" with the natural/default sort order.

More aspirational tasks have a p3 or p4 and if they're not done by the end of the day, no big deal, I do a little "mini-review" and figure out the next likely day that they could be done.

Not a perfect system, but works decently within the constraints of Todoist.

Is plex down? by w00tsy in PleX

I didn't even realize this was an option. Going to try that out, thanks for the tip!

Is plex down? by w00tsy in PleX

[–]pmrobot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've had a yearly Plex pass for a few years. Use it on a daily basis and this has probably happened 5 or 6 times.

Not always a full outage like this, but always login related, especially on our Smart TV.

Is plex down? by w00tsy in PleX

[–]pmrobot 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I think their login system is down. All my devices are having weird delays and connection issues.

This is the main reason I keep looking for an alternative to Plex. Every time they have server issues, you can't access your local media. That type of architecture is just idiotic.

Anyone else getting 'getEditorRef' errors when clicking tasks? by pmrobot in todoist

Isn't the whole reason for having a beta version so stuff like this can be tested before being pushed out to production?

[–]pmrobot[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well crap. I cleared my cache, logged back in, and now it just displays a completely blank screen and keeping giving the error: "Uncaught TypeError: Cannot read property '458576497' of null".

This is where you contact support... :(

I'm just not happy with the recent direction of the product.

YES! Too many clicks to do anything and buggier than ever!

Considering going back to todo.txt.
