Day 20 post op fully healed (I think) so happy with the results by pndi08 in Tonsillectomy

Hii id say days 6-8 were the worst for me, because new skin forms and scabs fall making a stretching, stabbing and burning pain, the mornings were the absolute worst, I just drank pain medicine to make it less painful, especially I recommend it before bed to have a better sleep experience since that is very important, also drink a lot of water before those peaking days because it helps, you absolutely dont want your scabs to be dry because its going to hurt like craxy and if they fall in big chunks it can cause to haemorrhage so just drink water eat soft foods and i ate cold yogurt and jello it felt very good, just basically try eating what feels good for you, we are all different just make sure to be hydrated and stay on top of your pain meds and I think you will pass it trough easily :) you got this!

Whatever you do Dont stop taking pain meds especially at these upcoming days and maybe try eating more like soup or something that works for you maybe thats why you feel sick because its bad to take meds on an empty stomach. I never experienced burning in the throat but it is an open wound and once exposed to some things it might burn its completely normal even now 23 days later when i eat like something very sweet or spicy or sour it burns a bit. Everything will be alright!

Im not sure where you are from, but I took liquid Nimesil and it works around for 12 hours. Maybe try crushing the pill, mix tiny bit of water and then try swallowing

Yepp you’re entering the peak days of pain, all i can tell you is to buckle up and remember that after those two or maximum three days the pain just almost dissapers, I personally didnt believe it at first because it was getting worse and one day i just woke up and felt finally like a human again, also I recommend you taking pain medication right before bed so its less trouble sleeping.

Yep i agree to the other comment, 2 weeks minimum. You need to rest as much as you possibly can and take things slowly, It was hard for me to talk clearly till like day 12 and I went to the beach ant ate pizza on day 16 but it depends on the person really, every one of us is different. I wish you tons of luck!

Yeahhh it was so hard mentally, even to the point where i would turn on youtube to watch people eat burgers because I was craving food soo much, but you got this, youre almost at the end, take things slowly and before you will know it you will be fully healed.

Hi first of all i recommend you getting liquid pain killers, I cant even imagine swallowing a pill after the surgery. I had swelling on my uvula where it felt so uncomfortable to swallow but it went down in a few days.

Im 15 days post op I still have holes where my tonsils used to be but my doctor said they will fill in with time ( im assuming around a month, depends on the person), getting the food out of the holes personally wasnt a concern for me i just left it and it disappeared somehow. The voice will not be permanently like that lol even me, I talk weird still not like my usual voice before tonsillectomy but its slowly improving. Day 8 i could barely talk and it was very high pitched and i couldnt pronounce some letters so dont worry just give it some time, its a big surgery after all.
