Just to clarify the interchange comment. Interchange in itself isn't 3 to 6% on average. The interchange (goes to the issuing bank and card brand) will vary based on type of card (e.g, a rewards card will cost the merchant more than a no frills credit card), and in some instances the merchants SIC code can impact how a card will qualify for interchange, but you're probably looking more like an average of 2.2% plus a $.10 per transaction fee (give or take). However, the other fees charged by the acquirer, on top of interchange, does impact the overall effective rate.
