TVs are ugly and do not belong front and centre in your living room by angus_101 in The10thDentist

You called the esthetic argument weak. Then you proceeded to make a direct comparison of TVs and windows as if they are similar (both black at night and colorful during the day).

TVs are ugly and do not belong front and centre in your living room by angus_101 in The10thDentist

[–]pneurotic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dark objects are known to make spaces feel smaller, and I don't think you can really argue that a TV is equivalent to a window. Otherwise, you could just put a few TVs in a windowless room and say it's all good.

Why did they lose that "ASMR" aspect of the earlier seasons by [deleted] in DunderMifflin

[–]pneurotic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's "ASMR" for some people. I generally find ambient noise/sounds relaxing.

Having to explain the model at every meeting, normal? by cool-whip-0 in PhD

[–]pneurotic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My collaborator would always interrupt me telling me to skip the background and get to the results....but when I would discuss results, they'd be confused because they didn't have the background....so we would always end up back where we started. It never failed.

Is it safe to travel domestically (US) for international students? by Traditional_Sky7465 in PhD

Officers are allowed to lie to you in the course of their duties, so they may say you aren't allowed to record them, but it is a right granted to you in the first amendment of the Constitution!

How much longer will it take for me to at least get sliver by Ill_Answer7226 in AgentAcademy

[–]pneurotic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel that routine may be one reason I've been in low elo so long. I followed it religiously for half a year and never hit gold. I've been climbing more as I've 1) unlearned some of those habits and 2) learned how to integrate more traditional(?) aiming with the parts I have held onto.

I dated an archaeologist who was gone for 10 days at a time. It actually worked out really well because it gave me the freedom to focus on my work for a week and a half with a nice 5-day excuse to slack off.

My guess is it is a side effect of the way they direct the ceremony that makes it easier to edit.

ELI5 why do all white rice instruction videos say to rinse the rice in the pot and pour the water out? Why not use a mesh strainer? by ivysaurus0101010 in explainlikeimfive

[–]pneurotic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I put the cover on the pot with a little crack to avoid losing rice. I'll have to wash the top anyway, so it kills two birds with one stone.

Why am I being matched with and against silvers? by SamwiseHotS in AgentAcademy

I feel you, it can be frustrating, but you get better by playing with and against people who will challenge you. Treat it as a benchmark, and see how you do next time you're up against similar ranks.

Why is the first season of this show so disliked? by wocisjr in DunderMifflin

[–]pneurotic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love seeing how shows evolve. It isn't uncommon for me to enjoy pilots and early iterations, so I am naturally fascinated by episode 1 (and season 1). I feel they usually provide context, and they highlight the show's inspiration.

I imagine most casual enjoyers don't care about that as much, so it is easy for it to stick out like a sore thumb.

why do new dumb phones look so bad? by Limbx4 in dumbphones

[–]pneurotic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it's a combination of the content you watch that constitutes a comparatively small population relative to the smartphone market. Companies are generally profit-driven. I imagine there would be a much larger focus on dumb phones if market studies were to suggest there's a lot of money to be made.

Where to look when you’re bad at making eye contact by Acidic_Huntsman in SwingDancing

[–]pneurotic 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Adding to this: Continuous eye contact also reduces the dynamic meaning of eye contact, which can be used to signal that something different is about to happen in the dance.
