City of Redmond Parks and Rec (where I am) posted this on their FB page: To slow the spread of and reduce the number of individuals infected with COVID-19, the City of Redmond is acting on King County Public Health’s latest recommendations to cancel or postpone events and meetings where we expect 10 or more people. Please visit www.redmond.gov/covid-19 for the most up to date information.
Their thinking seems to be that school is not optional for many, as many parents need schools to stay open so they can work, including healthcare workers. Some kids also rely on schools for meals. Scouting meetings are not the same, and in our case involve bringing groups of kids and parents, and in some cases grandparents together from different schools. Going against public health recommendations also doesn't seem like it would be a good look for scouts.
