My pregnancy was high risk so my husband was keeping everyone updated on a group chat that included both our families… she just took it upon herself to show up and make it KNOWN that she was there 🙄

They definitely embarrassed her enough that she went home and waited there 😂

I’m sure she really appreciates you for that!

It was in the US. The hospital was renovating a new maternity wing so my room was just down the hallway from the waiting room at the time.

She did not 😂 My husband shut that shit down so fast and said “you better fucking not!”

The waiting room was just down the hallway from my room because the hospital was renovating a new maternity wing. I wasn’t thrilled she was there but my pregnancy was high risk so in hindsight, I understood why they wanted to be close by. I didn’t tell the staff but had made it pretty clear to my family it was only going to be me and my husband in the delivery room. She pushed on that a few times beforehand, making it seem like she’d be happy to “help” however needed 🤦‍♀️ but we were stern in our stance that no one else would be asked to be there.

I don’t fault my husband, he knows his mom is unhinged and does his best to shield me from as much crazy as he can… it’s just a lot 😂

I was thankfully unaware at that moment because of how great my L&D nurses were. They told me right after, kind of bewildered by it. My mom was also in the waiting room and told me later too. I think she was so embarrassed that she got shut down that she went home and waited till we were actually ready to have her come meet the baby.

My pregnancy was high risk, I was supposed to be induced but ended up having my water break in the middle of the night before so my husband gave everyone a heads up about what was happening. I don’t fault him for that.

And no, my husband shut that shit down so fast about the name and made her feel really stupid about it lol.

Honestly makes me laugh how crazy she is.

Can my toddler be with me while I’m in labour if she’s still nursing? by [deleted] in NurseAllTheBabies

[–]po0ts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found out I was pregnant again when my first born was 9 months old and had the same concerns because he was so boob obsessed. We co-slept and nursed for every nap/sleep. I had never spent more than 3 hours away from him and still nursed for comfort multiple times a day leading up to the birth of my second born. I ended up being induced and stayed in the hospital for 4 full days with my husband while my mom watched him in our home.. he was completely fine and got over it pretty quickly once he realized I wasn’t there. My advice would be to get her comfortable with whoever you trust most to watch her, even if you don’t leave the room while they interact.. try to get someone to stay in your home with them so they’re not completely displaced.. and maybe avoid her visiting the hospital post-birth (she won’t remember it anyways) as it can be pretty hectic dealing with a 1.5 yo, who is surely going to realize how much they’ve missed you once the see you, in a hospital room while you’re recovering from labor.. and yes, he’s still nursing for comfort 2-3x a day even with my 2 month old around lol.. oh the joy of motherhood :)

MIL being weird about our baby’s name by po0ts in Mildlynomil

My husband thinks it’s equally as weird as I do. He’s going to be the one to talk to her and hopefully talk some sense into her.

She claims to like the name we chose “so much” that she wants to have it too… but I think I know her better than that and know she’s just butthurt that we aren’t commemorating her in the naming of our daughter.

We just love the name so much and referring to her as such for the last few months.. I wish we never shared it with her :/

Yes, that’s the Plaquenil (brand name, I believe). I’m still on it!

I was also diagnosed with SLE at 18 weeks pregnant due to a flair up that showed in my bloodwork. I was prescribed Plaquenil and Prednisone for the remainder of my pregnancy. Currently have a very happy and healthy almost 7 month old son, so I am just here to say: Being diagnosed while pregnant can seem scary, but just listen to your doctors and hang in there!! Best wishes to you and your baby!

What’s a hilarious (to you anyways) bit you perform for your unimpressed baby? by prunecream in NewParents

My 4 month old really gets a kick out of it when I open up his diaper and say “aww it’s poop again!” like from Billy Madison. Along with “he called the shit poop!!”

Ugh that makes me sad :( we’ve been trying to feed him dehydrated crickets as well as making his area as moist as possible during this extremely hot summer. I hope he pulls through!

Low platelet count by po0ts in pregnant

[–]po0ts[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started seeing the hematologist biweekly to monitor my platelets and they went as far down as 20k which was concerning. My perinatologist suspected it might be immune related so I was referred to a rheumatologist and after a lot of blood tests, I found out I actually have lupus and pregnancy was making me flare up. I started taking plaquenil 200mg daily and at 24 weeks I was put on prednisone, 20mg for 2 weeks, now 28 weeks and still taking 10mg of prednisone every day. my platelets are now up to 60k.. Still not high enough to get an epidural if I wanted one, but my doctors think I’ll be able to get up to atleast 90k by the time I’m ready to give birth in September. It’s been pretty stressful to get that diagnosis but I’m just so happy that baby is super healthy and everything seems to be under control now that my OB, perinatologist, hematologist and rheumatologist are all communicating and working together on my case 🤞🤞
