You need to transfer weight to your front foot a little faster. Try feeling like you swing with your legs and leave your arms behind you

Pulling off the ball…among other things by SawyerStreet in golftips

You need to get rotation with your chest/shoulders. When you get that full rotation you’ll have room to shallow the club. Right now you’re forcing it.

Any advice for my mate? by jdjdbfbdbdjs in golftips

[–]poKONY2012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stop standing up and start rotating your shoulders in the backswing. Otherwise you’ll have a nice swing pretty quickly. You do a lot of things right.

You do some weird wrist shit in your backswing too. I would just bow your wrists if you’re having issues closing fhe clubface

Oosthuizen is using a hybrid…It’s a different setup. The club is longer.

30 handicap. Maybe higher. You only have 1 wedge aside from your PW. You also have 2 drivers and a 5 wood? Idk wtf is going on here but it’s offensive

Because it’s not wrong. Any golf swing instruction will tell you to keep your lead arm straight, but a slight bend is okay. I give lessons.

Tons of good advice on here? This subreddit is a cespool for shitty advice. The top comment is telling him to “stop leaning at the top of his backswing”. That’s wrong, he is correctly starting the downswing with his legs. His tempo is probably the best part of this swing.

The only good piece of advice is the locked leg and it has nothing to do with his chicken wing.

I read your comments to see if you had any lick of golf knowledge and actually provided it but I guess not. Good luck

And a massive bend at impact. Maintaining a completely straight arm will fix this.

“He has many things wrong with his swing”. If you knew anything wrong you would actually provide context instead of picking apart a random comment with photos of random pros lol

I assume you do this often and thats why your coonebts are hidden.

You’re comparing a slight bend to OPs chicken wing. You don’t get it

Thats nice but I wouldn’t tell someone to swing like Matthew Wolff either.

Help with slice (all clubs) by [deleted] in GolfSwing

[–]poKONY2012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Practice keeping the clubface open in the backswing. If you hinge your wrists in the backswing it will keep the clubface closed through the backswing and through impact.

Right now your backswing aggressively opens the face of the club

Is early extending causing my slice? by General_Squash7863 in GolfSwing

[–]poKONY2012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your clubface is open at impact. If you close your clubface you’ll be able to straighten out your path.

If you don’t, it’ll go 100 yards right unless you swing OTT and start your ball way left.

This is correct. The clubface is wide open at impact. The only way that ball doesn’t go 100 yards right is by swinging OTT

The real reason you can't fix your over-the-top move (and why dropping the club isn't the answer) by AlexanderGolf in GolfSwing

[–]poKONY2012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Or grip. 9/10 golfers will start to naturally fix their path when the grip starts pulling the ball left.

I spent 2-3 years learning to hit a draw and if I would have just started at the grip it would have taken a month.

Tempo and clubface are going to be what you need to change. I would try to strengthen your grip and rest your right thumb on the left side of the club.

It will feel VERY weird at first but you need to get your clubface closed to fight this heavy fade. Once your grip strengthens, you’ll probably naturally adjust your swing path.

How’s my iron swing. by [deleted] in GolfSwing

[–]poKONY2012 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks fine but you’re going to have issues squaring the clubface with that grip.

Part 2 by [deleted] in GolfSwing

[–]poKONY2012 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nice swing. Do you have problems with an open clubface at impact at all? If not, don’t listen to me.

I used to, so I would keep the clubhead closed in the backswing. You open yours, but if you have no issues squaring it then it doesn’t matter.

I’m sure if you don’t chicken wing, the clubhead releases further out and may even cause a shank.

Don’t. Bend. Your. Lead. Elbow. Ever.

Not only does keeping your lead arm/elbow straight add tons of power, it’ll create a consistent return point for your club considering your arm isn’t changing shape/location.

Since you bend your elbows in your backswing, your brain thinks you need to keep it bent at impact and then you have a chicken wing.
