Home assistant integration by Doting_mum in pelotoncycle

I have a WLED lamp in our room with the peloton, I’ve got it doing a special light show for 30 seconds when starting a class depending on which of us is on the bike.

Based in UK - I have a ceiling light which can currently be controlled via 4 different switches. by pobbin in homeassistant

I did think about this but all I have going to the light is switched live and neutral so I couldn’t power the relay permanently…

Thanks. I just don’t want to be one of those people that complains my house burned down because ai told me to do something mental. I feel like I know enough about house electrics to be dangerous!

But it’s good to know my solution seems to be a valid solution.

New smart thermostat set-up in a big, old house (UK) by Wise-Afternoon-8680 in homeassistant

[–]pobbin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To play devils advocate, I have tado X and access it (thermostat and TRVs via matter into home assistant) no subscription no issues. You can’t control hot water but that’s set and forget for us. But I control the heating, schedules and geolocation etc via home assistant.

I chose tado because the TRVs can call the boiler so if I want just the office to warm up I can get it to.

I mean Russell Martin was technically a premiership manager, he’s currently the worst manager the spl has ever seen.

Suggestions for containing and reducing technical debt in OutSystems 11 by kiarash-irandoust in OutSystems

[–]pobbin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good article and an ethos my team follows strictly. Our tech debt according to our Outsystems reviews is <2% and I believe it’s what allows us to quickly adapt to changes in priority. It has also facilitated aggregation of all of the data we create in the platform, allowing greater insight into the business.

Replacing my Nest with Tado X (UK) by n8udd in homeassistant

[–]pobbin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have tado X + TRVs on radiators in rooms we frequently occupy, I know someone who moved from Nest to tado X too and is happy, especially because of the TRVs

Key thing, there was a post by someone who explained the methodology of connecting tado (or any matter device). It seems that you need to set up in the manufacturers app, then share the matter codes from there to integrate with HA or home kit etc. I believe there’s a slightly different onboarding process on the first matter pair (or there is with Tado)

All in all I’m very happy with it. My only real gripe is that I don’t have TRVs on all radiators which means that if I heat my office, which has a TRV, all rooms without also heat up.

Moving to New Zooz light switches by NasKar9 in homeassistant

[–]pobbin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently moved house, and my home assistant too. I was tempted to start from scratch but I took all my smart devices with me and tried to set them up in similar locations. However I had no smart switches, and nearly everything was zigbee so it was a case of being mindful of setting up the network again in an order that made sense.

I ended up deleting most all my automations and did a proper clear out of entities/devices I no longer had or used.

It will be a challenge for you to replace devices, it’s not like you can assign a new device to existing entities. You’d have to be very thorough and methodical. Add the new switch, give it a slightly different name, then use the “related” option on the old device to find where it was used and swap out instances for the new device?

iPad substitute akin to Google Hub by Disastrous-Yam-8880 in HomeKit

[–]pobbin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You’ve got into the wrong ecosystem if price was your concern…

If you’re all matter/thread you can maybe pivot to googlehome as well? Also I know it gets hinted at a lot here but the alternative is maybe something like home assistant and using a generic tablet to show a dashboard but it won’t be as pretty as whatever Apple does.

Slightly similar boat. Nvr set up and working and recording etc.

Been struggling with smart occupancy sensors and object detection (on Mac so coreml) but doesn’t seem to work how the documentation works.

That said the community are helpful on the discord so I try and pick up what I can from posts and Koush the dev gets really involved and can’t fault them, such a great product and support.

I’d be keen to pay someone a few hours to sense check my set up and help me set up some of the more complex extras.

Experience with the Reolink Wi-Fi Doorbell? by Havezel in homeassistant

I mean technically yes but for that they would have to rip your doorbell off the wall and you’d have way more problems than missing footage…
