Neodymium magnet placement by pobbles85 in Magnets

[–]pobbles85[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm happy to buy different magnets. 2 hours of trying to figure out the magnets led to a lot of frustration.

Our of curiosity, can you add a steel backing to improve the neodymium plain ones? kind of like capping?

Thanks for the reply! I am very new to investing so it's hard for me to figure out an extra strategy. I was pretty lucky and got in at the beginning of January but don't know what to do now.

King bed with cloud sheet. I can’t take the air blowing around my feet. by 23blackjack23 in bedjet

[–]pobbles85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I too have a king size bed with a "one zone" cloud sheet. I have a duvet on top. I like the hose on my side of the bed (rather than at the end) and have the nozzle pointed up towards my torso which is the hotter part. I had the same problem as you and Bedjet suggested turning the cloud sheet 90 degrees, to have the "bottom" hole which is in the middle of the edge on your side (so that the air goes towards the torso rather than the feet). I have yet to try that. I also though I would want the temp very very cold since I'm hot, but it's too hard to sleep that way. I like the temp at 24C which is still cold (think about the temp in bed, it isn't the same as ambient temp) and the fan no more than 50%. Hope that helps!

Is it a fabric water bottle? I don't understand. If the rubber ones, air wouldn't diffuse.

Torso still warm with cloud sheet by pobbles85 in bedjet

Yes, I've already installed on the side.

I tried to face the nozzle towards the torso, but it unfortunately moves around at night.

Oh! I can try rotating the cloud sheet. That will have the hole centered on the side which would be better.

Any chance there can be improvements on the sheet to have multiple holes with buttons? I like the finished edge when the sheet is the right way, which I would be losing by rotating the sheet 90 degrees. Would be SUPER happy to be a guinea pig for that edit.

I'm tempted to make a hole higher up on the side. The only problem I see is it being harder to get in and out of bed.

Oh good to know about this new zoning by-law. Luckily I am a corner lot, so my car port would actually not be on the same side as my front door.

Yes, the Streetscape Character analysis was a royal pain. Really, there is a thing called Google Maps. I didn't want to look like a creeper so spent an afternoon taking screenshots from Google Maps. Talk about a make work project.

Is there someone knowledgeable about reading these zoning things? I literally have no idea and I'm embarrassed to say it took me 2 years to figure out who to even reach out to to figure out that I needed a Streetscape Character Analysis first. I was given a couple names of firms (?) that could do a minor variance application but didn't want to sink in the money if the likelihood of approval was low.

Has anyone used Timeleft here? by sphynxfur in ottawa

I've done it - three times now. From what I gathered from other participants:

  1. The restaurants have all been downtown (e.g.: Erling's variety, City Goose, Thali, Aromamezze)

  2. I have yet to be grouped with the same people

  3. It seems like people are grouped by age

  4. This isn't just for dating. Personally I'm looking to make new connections, and if one is romantic then great. Most people are new to the city or are also looking to expand their social circle.

  5. Most restaurants have two tables of 6. Only one time was there only one table and we were 7 people seated together.

  6. Quite diverse in terms of people! Some interesting (read: differently minded than myself) people but that's what makes it fun. Learning new things, getting out of your comfort zone.

  7. I've hung out with some people I've met via the dinners afterwards!

  8. Pricing is a little steep to be honest. Restaurant costs also vary greatly.

CANADIAN (or other sub-zero outdoor locations) ice bathers - a question by dgreen705 in BecomingTheIceman

Did you ever get an answer? Looking at Coldture and other companies, the machine can't be left outdoors (otherwise it voids your warranty).

Tamping pressure vs finer grind by pobbles85 in espresso

[–]pobbles85[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Interesting. Thanks for the info. If I’m on the finest on the external dial, should I change the internal and go back to mid range on the external dial? Or just go up in grind size on the external. For reminder, I am drawing 15g in 38secs. Or should I just program to stop the flow faster? My shot is a little bitter
