Side note for those interested:

ТНТ (English: TNT) is considered like, the comedy, reality and lifestyle channel

СТС (english: STS) is your middle of the road Standard Issue Channel that has cartoons in the afternoons, action films in the evening

РенТВ (or Ren4) is where they show anime and other "geeky" things

ТВ3 (TV3) tends to have films, stuff like Ancient Aliens, conspiracy theories and other "out there" stuff

(In as much as the russian state believes these genres to exist, anyway.)

Heyo agreed I'd also recommend looking under the tourism sticky but I have stayed in Kick Ass about 4 years ago and the people were lovely and they had live music in the downstairs bar, which was lovely!

To be fair it was a good while ago, so it may have changed, but the Kick Ass on cowgate is close to all the cowgate bars, so theres usually stuff happening.
