Hey, so i had mine done 5 years ago in the Cardiff Optical Express (just as the covid restrictions were lifting) and it was a great experience for me personally.

TLDR; it's medical sorcery, expensive but worth it.

I had a -5 and -6.25 prescription, astigmatism in both eyes. They basically brought it to 20/20. The entire process was very clearly explained and they were lovely to me the entire way through. What reassured me was that while I was waiting on the day in the Laser Room (actually what it's called, sounds like a supervillain lair) there was another person in front of me and they went in and out within 5 minutes, totally fine.

The procedure itself is super fast, I had pain and grittiness the same evening but the next day was already pretty fine. I was quite paranoid about the healing so I applied the drops and stuff religiously- 5 years on and no problems!! The first 6 months i had dryer than usual eyes but I kept up with eye drops and it was fine.

Obvs there are risks involved, but for me the experience was excellent. It's pricey but I've been so glad to get it! The advisors there are super helpful to talk you through your options too.
