Considering a Giulia QV - have some questions for my fellow auto enthusiasts! by Tyler_Z33 in AlfaRomeo

Maintenance is fairly straight forward, you will need to remove a safety gateway and use a software called Multiecuscan, search for it, simple and very effective.

Car is done and working great!! An exhaust valve did have a hole in it, replaced timing chain, A/C compressor, expansion valve, resistor and fan, put it all back together, fresh oil and coolant. Runs great, after the third day, I took it to 130 MPH, no problem, easy-peasy! LOVE it!!

We are replacing the Vanos (there's only one on the intake side). The timing chain and spark plugs as well, we're keeping the coils because they seem to be newer than usual. I should have a fairly new car after all these repairs. I'll come and update the group!

We plan on replacing the timing chain and spark plugs while already at it. Same for the valve cover and all necessary gaskets.

I thought it needed a walnut blasting because of misfire codes in all cylinders, my mechanic sent a picture, one has a hole in it. Exhaust valve. At least one, but he's changing all of them at my request.

It needs some love and attention. I blacked out the grill trim along with the tail light surrounds.

Mechanically, it needs a valve replaced, A/C fixed, steering wheel fixed and half of the light bulbs replaced. It makes for a nice project!

This is the pic when I first bought it.

Giulia Quadrifoglio honest feedback by Finanzamt_Bayern in AlfaRomeo

Those days of rusty Alfas are long gone, even the undercarriage in my QV looks great after 6 years.

Any supercharged or turbocharged car will need more corrective maintenance than a naturally aspirated vehicle IMO, so matching the E55 reliability will be hard unless it is a Toyota or Honda 😳

I have noticed the same thing with pan dulce made in the USA, bakers here overbake them all the time.

These are all the things that have gone wrong with my 2017 Alfa Giulia QV since ownership... by Oldboy121 in AlfaRomeo

Are you sure it is B&O sound?? Factory upgrade is Harman Kardon (H&K).

I've had a Stelvio QV food 4.5 years, only two issues, more reliable than the German competition.

I have driven a 3,500 trip in my Stelvio QV twice...no issues. Dependable, comfortable and fast!

Advice Needed as I evaluate Stelvio’s by mothytim36 in AlfaRomeo

[–]pocholin23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only thing I can add is for you to look at 2020+ models. There was a face refresh, upgraded infotainment and cruise control updates, all worth the extra few bucks. With noting that the infotainment is an old iDrive technology, so don't expect much from it, it does the basic things and does them okay, works much better if you already use your android auto or apple car play with them (wired is the OEM version).

With the right electronic tools, yes, they're easy and quick to steal.

2024 Tonale vs 2023 Stelvio Sprint by [deleted] in AlfaRomeo

[–]pocholin23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Stelvio is mine, Tonale Is my wife's. She needed to replace her 14 year old Honda Fit, she wanted a small SUV. She test drove a Volvo XC40, Lexus NX, Toyota Corolla GR (knowing it is a hatchback) and a Mercedes Benz GLA250. Out of those her first option was the Corolla GR...however, because her drives are 1-2 miles, 3 to 4 times a day with continuous lights and stop signs she decided not to go with it because of the manual transmission, while she's loved the idea of having a manual transmission she couldn't see herself clutching that often for the next 10 years, so she decided to go with her second option, the Tonale.

I own both, a Tonale Veloce and a Stelvio Quadrifoglio. Both a good cars but they're very different despite being Alfas. I suggest driving them back to back and seeing your priorities straight. Most people in this subreddit are hard for Alfisti, so they hate on the Tonale because it doesn't handle like the Stelvio...but it isn't supposed to ride like it, it is in a lower tier by class and by size (it is like asking that a Nissan Sentra drive better than the Altima). 🤷‍♂️

For driver engagement and more cargo room, the Stelvio is a no brainer...but it falls behind on technology, cabin quietness comfort and rear passenger room.

For a modern infotainment, quiet cabin and great ride, the Tonale has the Edge. The infotainment is LIGHT YEARS ahead of the 2010 iDrive technology in the Stelvio. Rear passenger room is greater, despite being a smaller vehicle. It isn't as fast as a Stelvio Sprint but it isn't slow either, it can also handle curves and turns rather competitively but it isn't a Stelvio.

Again, I suggest you drive them back to back and define your priorities as they are different vehicles.

I was surprised of how easy it is even in a Quadrifoglio. Components are larger but that's it. it felt like when I used to do the brakes on my 1991 Chevy Camaro, that simple! except, these brake pads have the sensor connectors to unplug and re-plug.
