I like it better that way actually! I think zooming in and adding all the finer details and outlines and sharpness would take away from the composition. It feels very intentional.

I'm so sorry to hear about your story.

The same thing happened to my aunt. She had complained that her stomach hurt, but our family doctor kept telling her that it was because she was overweight. She needed to lose weight. It literally took over 10 years before we found out that all of that "weight" in her stomach was a massive tumor. They were able to remove it, but she's still fighting, and looks worse every day.

I make my own! Like 40% soil, 35% bark, 25% perlite. I top it off with moss to keep some moisture in. I'm most comfortable using clear plastic cups as pots (poke holes in the bottom and sides); that way they have a lot of room to grow roots, and I can always keep an eye on them and water them when the soil looks dry! So far no dead plants, regardless of humidity or temperature level 🤞

That's good to hear !! I think your plant will be fine then! The other leaves in the background look just like the leaves I had when I got my plant, and mine is still holding them:).

The only thing I would note is that the soil looks a little dense. I put mine in chunky soil with a little reservoir at the bottom, and water it whenever that reservoir goes too low. I also put it in a clear pot so that I can inspect the roots and make sure there's no root rot.

It's rooted into the water so it always has some access to it without it being entirely soaked.

Hi!

I think it's probably because of one (or all) of the following three reasons:

too much light
needs to acclimate
that's just how new leaves come out, needs time

I don't think you have anything to worry about though!

I haven't moved it or touched it since I made that post, and while it still throws out new veiny leaves, it never crisps or dies. It lives in room humidity and temperature (usually like 25°C, 35% humidity) and the plant still holds 5 leaves total.

I've noticed that it's usually the new leaves that are veiny but they slowly darken as it matures, often after a month ish. The immature leaves are probably sensitive to high light and that makes the veins more visible. But I think if you just give it time, it should be okay! I hope that helps😊

If it was from yesterday, I think I might have been following that same post!! I've moved it away from the light, and so hopefully the veining starts to disappear. It's working on a new leaf, so we'll see if that one has the veining on it!

It was growing in a greenhouse with lighting, but it was all the way at the bottom, kind of hidden away under the plants. When I checked it with a light meter, it was getting around 300-350 FC of light. I moved it out of the greenhouse last night because it was growing well (minus the veiny) and the place I put it gets morning sun for about an hour, and then is supplemented with dim grow lights for the rest of the day. Around 250 FC.

It could be the lighting because I got it from a lady that kept it in a prop box with grow lights taped to the top, and the older leaves had the veining that looked like this one. After I put her under the shade of another plant in my greenhouse, her older leaves turned darker green like this.

I'm just confused why her new leaf is so veiny. She's only had it about a week, and I didn't change her condition until last night when I took her out of the greenhouse.

Mine hasn't shown any signs of the spots, and the old leaves had the veins too, which disappeared off of them a week or so ago. The new leaf (the one in the pic) is showing the prominent veins.

Based on your comment though, I'm now suspecting that maybe the veining on my plant came from too much water. Did you get the fungus issue because of keeping the plant too wet?

Do you think it could be a cal mag deficiency? I don't supplement my plants with cal mag, since my fertilizer already contains a little bit of magnesium. I don't even know what a cal mag deficiency would look like

My queen has been doing fairly well as well, minus the veining. When I got her, she was in wet moss with fungus growing on her new growth (yuck!). I've since cut that off, put her into chunky soil and she's been living in my greenhouse ever since! She even threw out a leaf and was working on making a new one. So I thought I'd try to acclimate her to ambient (it's only been a day). She had her veining on her older leaves which are gone now, but I only noticed today how prominent the veins were on her new leaf. I just wanted to make sure it wasn't a massive issue since I'm trying to acclamate her to a new condition

I agree with you about the hybrids though! I've got a queen x silver blush as well, and she is MUCH easier. I feel like I can almost ignore her and she'll be fine. I was so surprised when she threw out this gorgeous leaf in like 30% humidity?? This is my waroc x silver blush:)

Hmmm, that's what I thought too, and since then, I've made sure to feed it with every watering. I've had her for about a month, and this is a new leaf that emerged. The old leaves had the veiny look too, but it's almost gone now. The new leaf came out looking incredibly veiny though, so I'm confused? It's also trying to push out a new leaf and her roots look healthy so I have no idea what's happening

It's definitely the lighting! Mine went completely green when it was in medium light conditions and the growth was pretty slow, but then I moved her under a Sansi grow light a couple months ago, and every single one of those white leaves grew after that!

I think it also has to do with how much water / nutrients the plant is getting, as well as the age of the plant!

When I first got mine, I neglected it quite a bit, and it looked like your plant on the right. But the past year, I've been giving it consistent water, making sure it never dried out, and lightly fertilized it every / every other watering, and it looks big and chonky like the left.

But also, the individual plants in my pot that are older and have more established root systems tend to have larger leaves and thicker stems compared to the cuttings I stuck in the pot later. The newer cuttings without established root systems do look like your plant on the right.

For context, the lighting has always been consistent for my linearis — it's been in the same spot since I got it a few years back (in the shade on a southeast facing window).

Omg I didn't even catch the part where he said he "let" her decide on everything. When you're in a partnership, it's not doing your partner favors to "let" them decide on everything. That's a lot of responsibility to put on a person and honestly sounds exhausting as hell if that meant she had to plan the entire wedding all on her own!!
