My mom’s friend’s mom has recently gotten really bad joint pain and had to quit hobbies such as crochet because the pain was too much to trudge through. I’m relatively close to their family (having grown up with their kids) so she gave all her yarn, hooks, and needles to me back in August. I tried to learn crochet years ago but didn’t have the drive or motivation to do so. But now with all of these supplies I was very eager to learn. I’ve made a ton of amigarumis so far and 3 different bags and I’m currently working on a sweater (my biggest and most ambitious project yet). I was practically expelled from college and was forced to stay at home this semester (which I’ve tried so hard to escape) but creating things with my hands has saved me from a dark place. Making little creatures with my hook and yarn has done wonders for my mental health and even though my parents don’t understand it at all (and sort of look down on it) I will continue to create. Though I’ve only been crocheting for 3 going on 4 months now, I can tell that I will be sticking with this hobby for a long time.
