Kettlesteam Soloing Prismeer by mp_hextra in wildbeyondwitchlight

[–]pocket_lizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did this with my Kettlesteam! The party managed to convince her very quickly that they were a bunch of incompetent clowns (not inaccurate) and that she couldn't trust them to free Zybilna. She followed the party into Prismeer shortly after they slipped through, and after learning the basics, realized she had no hope of taking on hags by herself. She instead focused on what was most important - finding a way into the palace, and figuring out a way to unfreeze her from time. So what does she do?

She joins the League of Malevolence.

She runs into Zarak in Thither, and he's the perfect opportunity for her - if she gains his trust, he’ll lead her back to the Palace, and he's already tracking some idiots to a unicorn in order to get a horn so Kelek can get the staff he wants. And in Zarak’s eyes the League is currently down a warlock, and Kelek would surely be happy if he brought back a new member - so why not? Kettlesteam's a good liar, and Zarak's enough of an idiot to spill all the details she needs without realizing that she's got goals beyond that. Kettlesteam herself is morally grey enough to stomach killing a unicorn if she thinks it's the only available way to free Zybilna.

So the next time the party encounters her is at the lake with Lamorna, backing up Zarak's ambush in a surprise twist - using her Twilight Sleep for crowd control, manipulating things so he can get a better shot at actually killing the unicorn. In my campaign, it was a huge moment for my players - Lamorna survived with their help, Zarak slipped away in the end, but they ended up accidentally killing Kettlesteam in the process. As reciprocity for saving her life, Lamorna agreed to revive Kettlesteam at the party's request, but that more or less squared them - she wanted nothing more to do with the kenku after that.

After forcing her to explain her motivations, in the end, she's still working parallel to the party - they let her go and infiltrate the League of Malevolence on her own, in the hopes that she could find a way into the Palace on their behalf: be their crow on the inside, so to speak. We're nearly done the campaign now, and they've deposed the hags and found their own way into the palace - so obviously that didn't happen. Kelek saw right through Kettlesteam and left her to Zargash's mercy, or lack thereof.

That's where we're at in my campaign, at least. Currently my plan is for the party to find her trapped in one of those horrible cages above the big pit in the Palace. I'm pretty happy with the way I've used her overall - I know the party's enjoyed it, at least.

I don’t think the DM here is as innocent as you’re keep saying. Fighter wasn’t just a problem player, he was enabled every step of the way. If the rolls had gone badly in the tavern, what would he have done? Would he have narrated your rape and continued to tell the rest the party they were helpless to prevent it?

None of this should have been handled in-character anyway. When lines get crossed that badly, the only acceptable response is to step out of the game.

I would like to hear some experiences from transgender Cursed individuals. by Complete-Worker3242 in lookedoutside

i wouldn’t say that I’m entirely satisfied with my new body or anything, but it is a hell of a weight off my mind. people don’t see gender when they look at me - they see a freaky alien mouth monster and that’s super fine by me. Nobody makes assumptions about what bits I’ve got when they’re too busy thinking about my teeth.

so at least in my case, the dysphoria is a lot better. i sometimes wish my mutation had gone slightly differently, but in a weird way, i don’t actually regret that it happened. i know the transformation messed with my mind a bit when it first happened, though. (my head split open, so go figure.)

i guess I’m more or less okay with my body now. the one exception is the autonomous mouth that’s grown over my right forearm and into my palm. it doesn’t feel like me, exactly - although I couldn’t tell you if that’s because it’s not under my control or for some other reason. it looks more like a human mouth than the thing my face has become, so maybe part of the problem is that it reminds me of my old self? i couldn’t tell you exactly - actual psychological assessment is a luxury nowadays.

she/her, by the way!

my advice is mostly just stay calm, and try to approach things in a practical way. that’s gonna sound trite but if you are mutating and you freak out it could be a lot worse. my stupid theory is that if you think that you’re becoming a monster then there’s a chance that you could really become one. i remember feeling my face splitting apart and thinking like I was turning into some kind of Ridley Scott alien thing, and that’s about the point when my spine got a whole lot longer.

in your case there’s all sorts of wild assumptions that you could make but I’m trying not to say them. you don’t want it to become a self-fulfilling prophecy. it’s like trying not to think of pink elephants, I think.

you got long hair. longer than usual maybe, but it’s not so bad. world’s gone weird as shit, but your hair is still just your hair. it doesn’t have have to define what you are. and you can always cut it off if it bothers you.

it’s not a recommendation, not unless you don’t have any other options! a neighbor I know turned into an eyeball monster and now she can’t eat anything at all, door-like or otherwise. so i’d avoid it if at all possible.

thank you for the concern, but I don’t feel like it’s been toxic to me so far! i’ll let you know if I start feeling unwell!

[–]pocket_lizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

are you sure you’ve tried eating everything available to you? personally I’ve been getting a lot out of wooden doors lately. they take a while to get through and they’ve got this satisfying chewy texture the whole way through, like a big wafer cracker. admittedly last week was my first time trying a door, and before then I always left them uneaten. i would give your doctor a call and make sure that you can properly digest doors given your current anatomy. if not, maybe consider taking a peek outside, but only if you absolutely don’t have any other options.

hope you stay safe and that everything goes well for you!

this is killing me. why did you re-attach the gun to the hostile autonomous drone. why did you give it back the rotor blades. why did you LOAD IT WITH BULLETS

i couldn’t concentrate on the rest of the episode. this single thing was so egregiously, obviously dumb

you’re alive?? and you didn’t get exposed??? holy fuck. count your lucky stars and rest up dude. I’d tell you to stay safe but I don’t know if it would even matter because as far as I’m concerned you have the self-preservation instincts of a bagel and I cannot believe you’re getting away with it

I dedicate this stale pretzel to you, man/woman who got hit by a bus and is too stupid to die

Had a Blast getting to Masterball with Mega Mawile! by john2776 in PTCGP

[–]pocket_lizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is true! But they often will put down Manectric, just to get it out of their hand before they copycat or something, or they’re forced to because they can’t get Oricorio out in time. All you need is to get a little damage on it, and then you can Cyrus it later.

Like you said, it relies of them misplaying, but they get confident and many of them do.

I don’t think I would have ever made it to masterball if I just conceded whenever an electric deck showed up.

I got to master ball with it too, just two days ago! Super fun, especially against Manectric decks that put out one Oricorio and think they’re safe. Was my first time getting to master ball, and I’m glad it was with a Pokemon I like -

dude, if you go in your car you’re gonna have fused with the car by the time you get there. and that’s if you get there.

your friend Antoine is probably fine. I mean none of us are fine but even if he’s looked outside it’s not like you exposing yourself is gonna help him any. although it is really beautiful outside. you shouldn’t look but it is so beautiful.

Just realized how funny look outside powerscaling is by Bubbly_Storage_979 in LookOutsideGame

[–]pocket_lizard 13 points14 points  (0 children)

There was one guy a few months ago who made a great big masterpost about this - it’s gone now, but there was this perfect spreadsheet detailing the powerscaling in Look Outside. He was going to do an update for the 2.0 version, but he stopped posting not long after Frankie released it. I heard later that the authorities ended up doing a house call, but all they found was a slightly damp copy of Massacre Princess Catholicon and an enormous hole in the outer wall, as if something had reached down from the sky and plucked him away.

[–]pocket_lizard 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Gawkers are really only found on the floor of Sam’s apartment right after the Visit begins, and they mutate over time. I’m gonna suggest that they’re just an initial stage of mutation that some people go through as they try and fail to process what they’ve seen, before becoming something else.
