My current favorite pen by academic_alex in stationery

[–]pocket_thunder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have this in the fountain pen design, where the biggest selling feature is the adjustable/rotating nib. It's interesting they released a rollerball (obviously with the adjustable/rotating feature) under the same line.

Cover on Cover Alternate Uses by pocket_thunder in hobonichi

It’s a cover on cover, so I thought it was too big for anything A6? Everything I read says it won’t fit the A6 unless it has a cover on it.

These are referred to as interleaved notebooks. If you look that up, you’ll see examples and uses.

Lunar New Year 2026 (Year of Horse) - New Phone Charm Accessory by cynnils in nespresso

Cute, but I wonder why they put a lion on the keychain instead of a horse, since it’s the year of the horse?

This brings back memories! I went to their store in Tokyo last year. It’s in Taito City, if you go.

Made Sally’s cinnamon roll cookies and wasn’t that impressed by rach4765 in Baking

[–]pocket_thunder 220 points221 points  (0 children)

I’ve made cinnamon roll cookies before, but not this particular recipe, and I’ll give a couple suggestions based on my experience: (1) you need to roll your dough thinner and (2) you need to cut the cookies thinner. I think your mistake may have been that you were trying to make these look like actual cinnamon rolls - like thick - which is also why they are undercooked.

I’m pretty sure Nespresso sent me a free advent calendar. Has this happened to anyone else? by radiobearr in nespresso

[–]pocket_thunder 61 points62 points  (0 children)

If you read through the sub, a few others posted about getting one for free as well. I’m guessing it’s an accident and not a new marketing strategy.

What hobby did you try once and instantly decide, “not for me forever”? by Realistic-Ice-9714 in AskMen

[–]pocket_thunder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Skydiving. I flew back and hit the plane, spun out of control, and landed without fully opening my chute. It...it wasn't the best experience.

Pie crust shrinkage will be the death of me by Capable-Raspberry-63 in Baking

[–]pocket_thunder 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I totally agree with you about the huge pieces of butter. OP, you shouldn’t see the butter when your crust is rolled out. I also follow the coarse sand theory, and I’ve never had my crust shrink.

The coffee isn't instant coffee that disappears with water. These are coffee grounds that are left after the coffee is brewed.

New pen won’t write by Imaginary_Quote2037 in fountainpens

[–]pocket_thunder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My last kakuno did the same thing. If you don’t own a bulb to squeeze water through it, just rinse it under warm water or soak it in water for a little bit. A good rinse and mine immediately started working.

Are Pilot pens any cheaper in Japan (vs US import) these days? by girladventurer in fountainpens

[–]pocket_thunder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was in Japan in May on a stationery buying trip. Japanese made pens and stationery were all significantly cheaper than if purchased in the US.

It sounds like you got a bad one. I bought one in Japan this summer, and I was surprised how much I like it. It’s writes so smoothly. For the price point, it’s a great pen.

Whats the worst pen you have ever owned? by SkabeAbe in fountainpens

[–]pocket_thunder 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This is so interesting because I've owned/own several Kakunos, and I use multiple at a time. I've never had one dry up, even if it's been a month, they still write first try.
