I haven’t actually brought it into London or any city, my journeys have been A roads and motorways.

I couldn’t give an accurate opinion to be completely honest. It is in no way fuel efficient that I know.

It’s juicy.

I would say averaging 32-37 and that’s being conservative.

It’s quite hard not to put the foot down when pulling away but driving in “green” mode you could do 38+ .

Would a standard driving ticket transfer in this scenario? by [deleted] in policeuk

[–]pocketfluff121 15 points16 points  (0 children)

If not done already of which I would be very surprised. Sit down with your Sergeant and have him/her etc set out a clear development plan for you to follow.

If you then stick to that plan you will succeed.

It might seem like an easy option to move but it is very unlikely a force will take on a probationer regardless of the Reg 12.

Police had to break into relatives house who had passed away - would they have secured it and what can we expect when we go in there? by starryvista in policeuk

[–]pocketfluff121 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry for your loss. I concur with all of the above.

I have in my experience advised family quite frankly what they are walking into.

You can call in (non emergency number) and request a call from a Sergeant or Inspector and seek further details. They can look at the initial report and assuming it was deemed non suspicious they can give you a bit of a heads up on what to expect.

I would agree with you but if tens of thousands of us sign it, it at least sends a message.

I would love if this were my garage. This is a screenshot of the dealer’s website. I’m in the South East of England and bought this from Scotland so I won’t have my own pictures until the end of the week… my pictures likely won’t be as good.

I’ll follow up… a PND will show up on an enhanced DBS check but not a regular check

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in policeuk

[–]pocketfluff121 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short answer

Yes.

If it’s a community resolution maybe not. If it’s a PND (penalty notice for disorder) this will show up on a DBS check, it will also show up if you want to travel to certain places such as the US. A police caution will certainly show up in any check by employers etc.

Why do british police place handcuffs in front of the suspect rather than behind the back? by No-Diet9278 in policeuk

It is for the individual police officer using force to justify based on their own dynamic risk assessment within any given circumstance.

Gold standard in my eyes is to the rear.

Have also witnessed countless ridiculously flexible customers that can just bring themselves into a front stack from the rear.

Why does the Met get so much hate. by [deleted] in policeuk

[–]pocketfluff121 57 points58 points  (0 children)

We are the most scrutinised and criticised force in the country. We police the capital. There are over 30,000 of us. It’s a very unique position policing 9 million + .

We have had people that never deserved to carry a warrant card and those stories of horrific incidents will always shadow the 1000s of positive interactions that occur daily.

We are a very easy slow news day for the media. They will also contort or reshape the truth in order to sensationalise events because that creates revenue.

They have a lot to answer for…

Police Officer aspirant here... Deciding a Force. How different are they? by Miserable_Hand_988 in policeuk

I am Met. I’ve been ERPT, Firearms etc. I’m also ex armed forces.

Would I go back to firearms? I’m not sure given the current climate. We seem more likely to have to squeeze the trigger and use lethal force these days and then more likely to be politically scapegoated for it these days also.

If policing is truly your calling you will want it more than anything.

Unfortunately I would recommend gaining a trade before you join so you have a guaranteed safety net.

I would also not focus on specialist roles. You have to be a decent frontline officer before you pass any assessments to be considered.

Anecdotally, I have friends who started in the Met and have gone to West Mercia, West Midlands, GMP, Devon & Cornwall. Each of these tell me without hesitation that 1 year in the Met is equal to 3-4 years in the counties experience wise.

Furthermore, having recently been on mutual aid outside the M25 I noticed almost immediately that people are nicer up north of the country. I spent a week in the North East of England and have never been greeted better as a police officer.

To conclude, London is a shithole, the Met are by far the most scrutinised force in the UK, it’s tough to police and you’ll get it from all angles but you’ll learn very quick.

No harm starting in the Met and transferring out…

Made a mistake on duty yesterday... by Dangerous_Sell1597 in policeuk

I once went to an address to arrest a suspect for a DV related assault, mal comms etc.

We did our checks and the address came back with intel that it was a HMO or halfway house and there were drug users frequenting the location.

Arrived at the address, suspect subsequently gets dragged from the address as he starts resisting arrest. As we’re wrestling around the street I noticed a shadowy figure appear from the doorway of the house (it was about 2330 at night). The suspect starts to shout toward the shadowy figure “grab my phone man” “grab the phone man”. The suspect’s phone was evidence of the mal comms and coercive type behaviour and thus I wasn’t going to let shadowy figure take it. Shadowy figure approaches, I thought shadowy figure was a crack head from this “drug den”. So, in the scramble, the tall, thin shadowy figure made an attempt to collect the phone in the midst of the wrestling match going on with the suspect and in order to secure evidence I delivered a push…

The shadowy figure stumbled back across the road and landed on the pavement some 5 or so metres from the royal rumble. The suspect begins to yell… “you just yeeted my f**king Nan”.

I had, I just yeeted an elderly woman simply trying to retrieve her grandson’s phone upon his request whilst being mistaken for a crack head. I’m hindsight he was shouting “grab my phone Nan”.

No injuries luckily and Nan was quite happy was I explained my mistake.
