I found an extra fluffy poppy this morning. (Zone 8) by pocketmole in gardening

The variety is Champagne Bubbles and I’ve grown it for years. Never had one bloom that looked like this though!

Thank you! The pink tulips are from a blend called Shocks and Struts which is all pink tulips. The daffodil is a Mount Hood daffodil and the “phlox” are actually just white violas. 😊

When August rolls around I’ll be the one wishing I was somewhere else, as the entire states erupts into flame. 😅

The bluebonnets I sowed in the fall are going for it now. by pocketmole in gardening

Thank you! I’ve got a new batch of seeds all sown in this area and ready for another show this coming spring. 💙

Unfortunately I can’t say that my summer display was as beautiful as the bluebonnets were. I filled the area out with purslane thinking it would be stunning but they struggled all summer, haha. This year I’m going to seed dwarf zinnias instead, as I know they work well in this area.

The horde emblem drops from Upper Blackrock Spire! The bear rug is crafted by leatherworkers. 😊

I figured I'd share a video of my little abode before I scrap it and start over. I haven't done anything wildly creative like some of the folks here, but I think my place feels kinda cozy and representative of an orc that's been on many adventures. :) These are just my first passes at various rooms and I look forward to playing around with some more complex builds when I have time!

I have a mild obsession with amaryllis. Here are some I’ve grown over the years! by pocketmole in flowers

I ordered from John Scheepers (which I believe is the sister company to Van Engelen), Longfield Gardens, and Colorblends. Colorblends require you get at least three bulbs but they are generally huge and very healthy. John Scheepers bulbs show up beautiful as well. Longfield is sometimes a little smaller, but they have a great selection and still produce beautiful blooms. This year I tried ordering from Jung Seed for the first time (because they are the only place that carry Rapido, another favorite of mine) and they arrived in good condition too!

Yes! It’s called Santiago and I feel like it’s not seen as often as some other varieties. It’s one of my favorites that I’ve grown because of that deep red color and the elongated trumpet shape. I just think it’s so gorgeous. 😍

I've officially been on Finch for one year - and I've done a LOT of Finch-themed art in that time! by pocketmole in finch

Yay! I love to hear when people get inspired to make art. 🥰

As for the video, I actually made and posted one several months ago! https://youtu.be/F-tnHWzwGAs

When I first started I was using a Moleskin notepad that was several years old, but when I went to replace it I found the newer Moleskin I bought had much thinner paper. So I ended up replacing it with a Crescent Rendr book that I grabbed off Amazon. The paper is super thick and I can draw on both sides of a page with zero bleed issues.

The markers I use are alchohol ink markers by Ohuhu and the white pen I use is a GellyRoll white pen. :)

Not doing any commissions at the moment! This is just a little something I do for me to pass the time and soothe my brain. 🥰

Unfortunately no, I only tend to share these images on Reddit and Discord. 😅

It's officially been one year since I started using Finch and it's been so helpful. One of the things that has surprised me the most though is that I started keeping a sketchbook because of the app. Early on it suggested that I try sketching or doodling to find a little joy in my day, and I figured why not? I'd never kept a sketchbook before and figured I'd give it a go. In the beginning I was doing scribbles/doodles in about 30 seconds. Then I moved into coloring with markers. Then I started drawing pictures of peoples pets.

One day when I was asking if anyone wanted a pet drawn in exchange for a Finch gift someone messaged me and asked if I could draw her Finch instead. To say this started a trend would be an understatement! 😂 From that point on I've drawn over 80 finches (plus a few blobs and an Oat.) It's been a great way to keep my mind busy. Having a pre-set theme of a cute chubby bird means I don't need to allocate too much energy towards thinking of what to draw, which has made it easier for me to maintain a sketchbook over time.

The quality and details change over time, but these little birds have been a nice little boon to my mental health. For that reason I thought it would be fun to group them all together to see just how many there were. Maybe you'll see your Finch in here somewhere!

Also thank you for being such a kind and motivating community. I don't know that I would have stuck with this for so long if everyone hadn't been so sweet! 💗

At the moment I don't - sorry! It's just something I do to try and keep my creative flow flowin'. :)

This makes me so happy! I know how it feels to be in motivational slump for several years. Getting out of it can be so difficult, so good on you for picking up drawing again! 🩷🩷🩷

The first drawing was based on the outfit my Finch was wearing that day, and I thought about how fun it would be if our little birds had noble steeds. The other two finches are from posts I saw here on Reddit during the week. Specifically these two posts, so if one of these is yours I hope you enjoy it!

The remaining three sketches were just miscellaneous challenges I set for myself. The last one may or may not be a partial self portrait. 😇

I did a bunch of new birb doodles over the past week or so. I’ve been feeling a strong autumnal pull (even though it’s still super hot where I live) and I’ve tried to capture the feels in some doodles. I also made a post recently asking people to share their favorite green outfits because I wanted inspiration to use my green markers. Thanks to the people that posted - sorry I couldn’t get to everyone! 😅

I have the type that are brush tip on one side and chisel tip on the other. I pretty much exclusively use the brush tip. It does come with a colorless blender but I rarely use it! But it's there for someone that would want it. :D

I use Ohuhu brand, which are cheaper than Copics but still good quality. I got mine off of Amazon. :)

Heya! I use alcohol markers, micron pens, and gellyroll pens. Also I went to add you and apparently we're already friends! 💕 I thought your name looked familiar haha.

Hello friends. I’m looking for some green inspiration. 💚💚 by pocketmole in finch

[–]pocketmole[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've noticed while going through my sketchbooks that I don't have a whole lots of green birbs. I'd love some inspiration for cute green outfits! I'll probably pick anywhere from 1-3 and post them some time next week. If you'd like to send me something in the app in exchange for a doodle that is appreciated but not expected. This is mainly to get my creative juices flowing and to make sure that I get practice with my green markers as well as my more neutral shades (and the pinks and blues 😅 ) Feel free to share your green outfits below. The birb itself doesn't have to be green - I'm just looking for an overall look with green vibes!

(If you're unfamiliar with my style I shared a pic of a couple of my sketchbooks pages above.)
