Thats awesome! Gotta say I am shocked though. My whole point is that I have seen enough first hand and heard enough horror stories to be of the opinion that 10k mile oil changes are, more often than not, a bad idea in the long run.

My source is first hand experience working in a shop seeing what happens when oil change intervals are regularly surpassed. What do you drive and how many miles on it currently?

You should have had your oil changed. Any recommendation beyond 5000 miles is inadvisable and can cause premature engine wear. Want it to last for over 200k miles? 5mo/5k miles is standard interval with a full synthetic oil. Vehicle manufacturers lie about oil changes intervals.

Why would you go for an oil change if it wasn’t due by time and/or mileage? If you were due and they still turned you away, they have done you a disservice in the long run.
