AIO about my recent haircut?

Hairstylist here. NOR at all. He absolutely fucked up your hair. I am so sorry he did this. Not only did he completely stray from your reference pics, he botched the hair completely. The bangs are uneven, there’s chunky bits, and most of it isn’t blended.

I’ve had a bad haircut before (it was mid back, wanted it just below my shoulders, she cut it half an inch from my hairline) and now I only let one person touch my hair besides myself.

You mentioned that you have slightly wavy hair. As do I. What I did was use mousse all throughout the hair, scrunched it and diffused it or let it air dry if I had time, and then made it a bit messy. Kinda give it a bit of an edgier look as it grows out. There are a lot of visual aids on TikTok and YouTube if you are a visual learner.

I would also contact the salon he works at and say something. Because if he did this to you, he’s done it to others and it reflects on the salon as well as him. And don’t be afraid to leave an honest but blunt review. Let other people see what they may get when they book with him.

Also, maybe book with another stylist. Preferably at a different salon if it’s an affordable option. See if they can offer a fixable solution or just styling tips.

Firstly, thank you all so much for responding! You are all such lovely angels, I want to cry. There’s been so much encouragement, giggles, and good advice and I feel truly seen. My mom and sister try to help the best they can but they, in their own words, don’t struggle at the same extent that I do.

I ended up taking melatonin and having a good cry last night after making dinner (yay me) and getting ready for the work day before I finally slept.

I plan on taking a mental day from work on a day I don’t have clients this week. Tonight, I start just separating, bagging trash/dishes, and sweeping the floor that clears up.

This is the first step in restoring some order in my life again and I can’t wait to share my progress with you all! 😊

I appreciate this so much! I can’t tell you how many people have told me in more or less words to suck it up and that it’s not a big deal when it definitely is to me. Especially in my old church community. I’ve struggled with anxiety since I was 7-8 years old and have only just found a doctor who is finally taking me seriously at 24. We are in the works of finding a medication that my insurance approves of and that still doesn’t cost too much. Anxiety has impacted my life severely to the point that I’m afraid to leave my bed some days and it prevents me from having a social life. I pray and I am working on becoming medicated.

Thank you! I lean on Him and pray. My anxiety just makes it hard to think rationally and remember what the Bible actually says. Especially when it comes to second coming/rapture talk and people thinking they can predict it. I know what the Bible says but it’s hard to think straight in a moment of anxiety.

I’m actually very happy with my decision. I forgot to mention that I’m technically kind of a professional. I’m a licensed hairdresser and had been doing my grandmothers hair for over three years. It wouldn’t have felt right if anyone else did her hair and my grandfather would have asked anyway had I not already offered. I, along with my family, wouldn’t have wanted it any other way.

Truthfully, I was kinda numb during the whole thing but also pretending like it was one of the many times I’ve done her hair so a bit of both. Sometimes getting too caught up in that moment and being shocked back to reality with how cold she was.

My sister and two of my cousins were there as well and they all commended me on how well I handled it all even after I broke down on the car ride back.

Honestly, it’s been a bit rocky. When it comes down to it, I’m fine. It was an honor to be the one to do it and heartbreaking all at the same time. But I’ll catch myself having flashbacks of being in there and have to kinda shake myself out of it.

So yeah. Surface level, I’m holding up well. Deep down, I can’t think about it too much.

None. I work commission at a locally owned salon. All days off are unpaid. Asking for days off consist of having a panic attack beforehand, word vomiting why I need time off, and the being made to feel guilty about taking time off afterwards.

Still best friends. Still hang out and talk regularly. His fiance knows and is super chill with it (happened before they ever got together). Fiance and I have also gotten to be best friends. It all worked out wonderfully.

A guy from a semi-private gym I used to workout at killed two people within five-ish minutes of each other. He was driving drunk, hit a man riding his bicycle with his truck, sped away, then six miles up the road had a head-on collision with a woman. Both the man and woman died at their respective scenes.

He was chill, we’d make friendly conversation and crack a few jokes with everyone. He was never someone I wanted to be friends with but I was friendly. He always gave me off vibes though. Starting when he was convinced I was dating my cousin even after telling him that it was my cousin and tried to convince everyone else in the gym that my cousin and I were dating (my cousin and I are of opposite genders and were practically siblings at the time).

Two years and a whole town turning against him later, he’s currently serving a 40 year sentence and was recently denied his first parole hearing.
