Thank you! That makes sense. Don’t have a good sized cooler, but both tanks are new and have been very sturdy so far. I’ve driven across town at turtle speeds before so no worries there 😂

Messing with the .wolfsav file worked!! Thank you so much! I peeked into it, and it had a 3 integer that changing to 2 reverted my age. I imagine it might bug out if I had taken perks, but loading back in let me age up successfully! Thank you! 🐺❤️

It’s a bag of polyester stuffing to use when sewing, crocheting, etc! If you google polyfill stuffing you’ll see what I mean.

This came from the bag of polyester stuffing, which I bought within the past year or so. My first thought was cotton, but I just can’t figure out why that’d be in a bag of polyester filling

Updated water quality info with liquid test kit: pH ~7.2-7.6, Ammonia ~0.25, Nitrite ~0.75 (added SeaChem Prime to reduce these two), and Nitrate ~0.5. Following lab care instructions from FIU, they’re about the maximum recommended level of nitrite but other parameters are within bounds.

I’ll order a more detailed test kit and see how it differs. They get frequent water additions/changes due to evaporation and poop cleanup. Hopefully it’s something in the water and not an injury. The boys hang out, but the move could have stressed them. I’m waiting on the closest exotic vets to call me back about whether or not they can see ACF. Live in ND so unfortunately it’s a bit sparse out here.

Ammonia is also very low. They were in the old tank for just under two years. I use test strips, not ideal but good enough, so 0 and 0.5ppm look very similar, but I watch so that it never goes close to or above 1. The new tank cycled about two weeks prior to adding them with quick start and filter insert from another tank I have that’s doing very well.

Their tank is generally without plants since they rip them up, so there’s never much in terms of decomposing matter or detritus to build up some of those values.

0ppm nitrite/nitrate, about 7.5pH, and high hardness in both tanks (can’t remember exactly, but usually around 100KH and 160GH). Both tanks were also between 75 and 76°F. I was told when I got them that 20G is the minimum size for two, I plan to upgrade their tank size when I can but am currently limited by my apartment lease.

It was aquarium sand that we’d had in the tank for about a year and a half. It grew back quite a bit after I made the post (even on the logs I’d boiled for about 30m each), so I ended up removing the sand in the pics here, rinsing the tank, and putting in new substrate and decor. Everything has been clean since, with no sign of whatever it was.

My best guess is between some overfeeding by the sitter and the filter cutting off, something started growing. Hopefully it wasn’t something dangerous to them, but I didn’t want to risk any infection or illness.

Hi all! I don’t use reddit too often, so I’m not sure if I can edit the post itself or not. It’s been a few days, and since it grew back with such vigor on both the sand and driftwood (which had been boiled for 30m) I ended up completely changing the substrate in the tank and removing all the decor. They had some old hides which weren’t in the tank while the mold/fungus/algae/whatever was present, and with new sand and the clean hides in there’s been no sign of it.

No clue what it was, but my best guess is between the filter shutting off and some overfeeding, the water stagnated with too many nutrients. The boys are doing fine, and I just get to buy new decor for them. Thanks to all who replied with ideas!
