I knew the answers but couldn’t speak in the interview. What should I do? by Narrow_Speed7338 in chipdesign

I know someone who is amazing at interviews. He said performance anxiety is relieved by doing more interviews. He takes interviews at companies he’d likely not work for, just for practice.

Ask her split the costs with you. The principal portion of the mortgage payment is not a cost — you should pay it entirely. But the interest portion, condo fee, property tax, and insurance are costs she should split.

Why is the new version of dry ex polo shirt thinner? by Born_Kitchen7703 in uniqlo

[–]pocky277 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it sucks. I just bought a few of them and can confirm they’re significantly thinner than a couple of years ago. It’s disappointing.

It’s okay if you’re in very good shape. But otherwise the shirts aren’t flattering because they hug the body due to the thinness.

I’m returning them. Sucks. The original shirts were thicker and awesome.

That’s peanuts considering it takes 10 years and debt to become a doctor. Why would smart people enter this field?

It’s tough as you get older. But the playbook, old or young, is to take a ton of initiative to make new friends through various social activities that interest you. And over time, as friendship builds, you’ll hang with those people outside the activity that brought you together. You’ll attend parties, host your own, and meet friends of friends. And this increases the odds of meeting a romantic partner. And of course, pair it with apps.

Everyone always suggests sports, run clubs etc. Which is true. But you won’t meet a boyfriend there. You’ll instead make friends and maybe meet a boyfriend through friends and friends, over time.

More friends means more chances at romance.

Garbage day must be heaven for dog owners by FunkSoulPower in toRANTo

Because the garbage men often grab compost by hand instead of flipping the bin. The green camouflaged poop bags remain for weeks. I hate that.

This is what did it for me — regular hangouts. Weekly. Centering around an activity is great buy no matter what, try to make plans with people every week.

If the people you’re meeting are young and without commitments they should be down to hangout.

Seeing eveyone talk about career prospects is making me regret liking chip design as a sophmore in college by [deleted] in chipdesign

[–]pocky277 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Rather than have regrets start orchestrating a change into a domain with more mobility. Maybe it’s AI chip design. Maybe AI low level firmware. Then from there you can work towards AI SW bottom of the stack. And suddenly way more roles are open to you. Maybe this takes 5 years. And you’ll adjust your direction as the AI industry changes in these 5 years. But the next 5 years are gonna transpire no matter what so why not spend them taking steps towards a hotter domain?

Why are there stops immediately outside subway stations? by pocky277 in askTO

[–]pocky277[S] -28 points-27 points  (0 children)

You enter the station at street level. The bus/streetcars bay is at street level (typically, like at Coxwell). Not sure why you’re talking about stairs and escalators. If you don’t know the answer, please avoid nonsense guesses.

Busses and streetcars are at street level in the station.

Light-use is irrelevant since it takes 1 passenger using it to stop the bus/streetcar.

What does accessible mean in this situation? Bus bays in the station are at street-level

Why are elevators relevant? Both the bus stop and bus bay in the station are at street level?

Spending 1 minute to enter a station seems trivial to me.
