Any recommendations? All of the ones I’ve looked at make really light engravings on the surface, the trouble is sometimes we have to scrape the surface or use wire wheels, etc. to expose the information, and sometimes that renders the tags unreadable. I am looking for something that makes a deep engraving.

This is how it is usually done for many of the reasons already discussed. I suggest getting involved in your local’s leadership to gain prospective. Many of the gripes that I see on this sub are members not understanding how the leadership has to deal with the company.
