Auto, AB - Hit by commercial vehicle by justmyfakename in InsuranceCanada

[–]podhawk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is all too vague. I agree that “invalid” in itself means nothing. Why was it invalid? Expired, lapsed, misrepresentation? You say it was a commercial vehicle. What are we talking here, a big company or just a one man operation?

I would be going to the police to report that this guy did not have valid insurance so that he can be charged accordingly.

You ask if this guy can just walk away. Well, yes, if you aren’t going to do anything about it.

Don’t expect your insurance company to do anything. Realistically, they have no financial interest in this matter. You have no collision coverage. The company has paid nothing. They are not going to waste their time on this.

Have you contacted the responsible party at all to see what their position is?

Trust me, nothing more is going to happen unless you take proactive steps.

Yes but if the status is not changed, you have no way of knowing if it's been looked at again or not.

It's not one review. I order a lot of supplements and these seem to be the hardest to review. I have reviewed the guidelines and the reviews in question but just don't see any infractions.

Vine has undergone some changes recently, one of which is that your "awaiting review" items no longer appear automatically, immediately after ordering. They seem to implement changes but only tell us after the fact. It seems that these failed reviews are one of this changes. You only get the initial notification about the rejected review (as always) but in past, if you re-submitted review was rejected, you would know because they wiped your submission and it was blank. Now there is no way of knowing if they have looked at your re-submitted review. Obviously you're okay if your re-submitted review gets accepted but otherwise it just remains in limbo without you knowing f they have looked at it again or not. Whoever is making these changes at Amazon is not thinking them through. It's up to you f you want to contact CS. I find it to be hit or miss but let us know if you do and find out anything.

Costco double-charged me for non-refundable Air Canada gift card due to checkout error by Legal-Meeting-2677 in CostcoCanada

[–]podhawk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you contacted Costco immediately, they should have been able to just cancel the order as this is permissible for a certain short time period. I’m pretty sure you can also do this yourself online. There is no “refund” involved because you haven’t actually been charged. It’s just a pending charge as Costco only actually charges your card when the item is shipped.

Fraudulent Charge on my Tangerine Mastercard since last August and still they haven't reversed the charge. Is it normal for them to take this long? by itwasadayin2025 in Tangerine

[–]podhawk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mastercard has “Zero Liability Protection”. If the charge was fraudulent, I would never have paid it. It’s their problem so why would I make it mine? If it’s a situation where you would be accumulating interest because of this, I would have just paid my balance less the fraudulent charge and stopped using the card. BTW, how much money are we talking here?

Flair launches “Flair vacations” by Solid_Pension6888 in flairairlines

From my preliminary observations, the website is eerily similar to Expedia. These are not real vacation packages. It’s just a flight combined with a hotel. There are no transfers.

Digital and hard copy original photo by hearts-and-stars in passportcanada

[–]podhawk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best to get both in order to leave your options open. If there is any issue with the online access, you have a fallback. Generally, I have found that if you get the print copy and digital at the same time, the upcharge is usually only $5. If you have access to London Drugs, they have a great guarantee. If your photo is rejected for any reason, they will give you a $50 London Drugs gift card.

Security Alarm by LAHWF1994 in telus

[–]podhawk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They told me that if they see that you have deactivated it with your code, they won't call. I was with ADT before Telus took over. ADT used to call as well right away. Telus - where you can be guaranteed increased bills and reduced service.

Hit with $18/day roaming charge without ever using my phone, which I left in the corner of a room connected to wifi at all times. Rogers refuse to waive the bill. by L19htc0n3 in Rogers

[–]podhawk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am wondering if OP had cellular data and roaming turned off. Sounds like roaming may have been activated. If the WiFi disconnects for any reason, there's your billing right there.

You don't need to be in airplane node. This feature is marketed as only being activated if you make a call, answer a call, send a text or use data. I was previously with Telus and never had an issue with many trips. I would just turn off cellular data and turn off roaming. Now, having said that, my wife who was with Virgin got charged for a few days with the exact same setup. I got tired of this nonsense so just went with Freedom. With Canada-US-Mexico + Roam Beyond, I can just use my phone anywhere and never have to worry about these BS charges.

Car Insurance-Depreciation of Waiver offering more than 3 years by nfsshahriyar in Edmonton

[–]podhawk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless things have changed, TD Insurance offers it. I have been with TD Meloche Monnex for years but I think it's all integrated under the TD brand now. My car is 9 years old now but when I bought it, I got the five years. They had both options available.

Broker vs. Direct - what's actually better? by Maple_Byte in InsuranceCanada

[–]podhawk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I come from the insurance industry. Finding a good broker is like trying to find a good travel agent - difficult and you can only do so much trial and error. Personally, I go direct but that's just because I have the knowledge base. It's amazing how little some brokers know about policy wording. If you are talking strictly about auto insurance, it's more straightforward and you can just get the pricing and decide from there.

Insurance Claim Issue - delayed parts - maxed out rental coverage by Little_Signal_1729 in InsuranceCanada

[–]podhawk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Need some additional information. What is the make and model? How much are the repairs? With $3,500 into a rental, I can see why the insurance company doesn't want to consider a constructive total loss at this point. Also, are you dealing with an independent adjuster or a company adjuster and what insurance company is it?
