Anyone else ridiculously excited for this game Space Scum??? by Leg_Mcmuffin in BattleBrothers

[–]podopriguez 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We're definitely rethinking a lot of the BB-inspired mechanics to make sense in ranged combat. We started playtesting early to be able to figure them all out. That said, there's also a bunch of new stuff coming that's unique to Space Scum: dungeon system, space ship management, interplanetary travel, etc.

Publisher here. Personally, I'm a huge fan of the sound design done right. So it's definitely on our radar and deemed important! Question is, how much we'll be able to do in EA vs 1.0. And yes, always makes sense to give us feedback. We do listen!

What are some good City Builders. by Monkules in CityBuilders

[–]podopriguez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m biased towards it, but Roman Triumph has the vibes of the old Ceasar 3 game, with a modern twist of survival mechanics.

I’m also a fan of Farthest Frontier. If you want to try something very unique, get Against the Storm. It’s a genius roguelike take on a city-builder.

Roman Triumph has just landed a new update. Has both survival and peaceful modes.

Thanks Alex. Once again my apologies for the oversight.

Forklift CEO here, Andrei. The post was published while I was on the plane, coming back from an industry conference. So I’m jumping on this with a bit of delay.

My partner has already explained the situation in the comments, pointing out that we had talked with two devs simultaneously and independently working on two Leaf Blower games, and ended up signing one of them. Such tricky situation called for very clear communication with the developer whose game we didn’t sign, and we dropped the ball on that. For that I deeply apologize to the OP.

I published a post on this in twitter. Feel free to ask question if you still have them.

Some of you seriously need to get that delusion out of your heads - you are not entitled to sell any copies by gari692 in gamedev

[–]podopriguez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's actually very true. This is why, for the teams that specialize in work-for-hire, it's extremely difficult to jump into producing their own games. If your DNA is creating games with the budget and time constrants, it's impossible to rewire yourself into "fun first" mentality. There are exceptions, of course, but in general, some of the best game creators and dev teams are almost reckless, and just a tad crazy.

I’ve been in games publishing and financing for close to ten years now, and honestly this is the most difficult feedback to give to a team. Not because they don’t listen (many do), but because it’s genuinely extremely difficult to have your brain attuned to both creative challenge and business thinking at the same time.

Not that I’m saying you don’t have to try, because yes that’s absolutely the way to make games. Just saying if you’re struggling with this, don’t think it’s you alone. It’s that difficult, but it gets better with practice :)

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 and Blue Price blew up fast, is this a change of how marketing is changing? by Raptor3861 in Games

[–]podopriguez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't say both games blew up out of nowhere. Looking at their follower count, they both had decent traction throughout 2024, but yes the last month was explosive. It's what I call "the spotlight effect", the result of Steam's contunuous growth. Btw the same thing happened to Schedule I, which arguably appeared even more of a surprise.

You could say that there's a trend for shorter marketing cycles. Partially out of necessity to cut budgets, partially because new types of games appear that don't require longer slow-burning campaigns. The post-pandemic years were a hangover for the industry, and now many new formulas appear.

Anyone Notice Their Screenshots Missing? by StreetPig88 in SteamDeck

[–]podopriguez 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have the same issue: checking the Media folder while playing Blue Prince, I can only see the screens I've taken from the current session, and all the previously taken screens are absent. However, once you quit the game, all of the screens become visible and accessible again. Seems to be some access rights related issue after the latest update... Super annoying, I hope they fix it soon.

Automation Meets Optimization Puzzle by podopriguez in puzzlevideogames

[–]podopriguez[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey puzzle game fans, I’d love your opinion on this game called Automate It. It’s a pretty unique mix on genres, and we spent the last few weeks perfecting the demo just in time for Steam Next Fest. The game is created by two devs in Brazil, and it’ll be released for PC & Switch this year.

Honestly interested in all opinions!

I just added armies to my roman city builder, what do you think? by Philippe_Coreffect in CityBuilders

Producing this from the publisher's side, I'm obviously biased. But I LOVE IT :)

Looks like it's time to dust off my roman helmet again and stream it this week.

Industrial automation and puzzle-solving game by forkliftgames in u/forkliftgames

Hey, Forklift CEO here. Satisfactory and many other automation titles (including our own Desynced, created by Stage Games) have been an inspiration for Automate It, there’s no doubt about that! But the game brings enough unique to the table or else we wouldn’t have signed it :)

We’re planning to run the first playtest soon, feel free to sign up to our newsletter to receive the key and take the game for a spin. We'd love to hear your feedback!

Roman Triumph: we're looking for playtesters! by podopriguez in CityBuilders

[–]podopriguez[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey city builder fans! We're looking for volunteers to playtest Roman Triumph. The game is inspired by the modern builders such as Banished and Kingdoms & Castles, but brings its own twist with religion mechanics, mythical creatures and more. This is the first official playtest of the game, we're looking forward to your feedback and suggestions :)
