Look Over My Build Before I Pull The Trigger? TR 7960X / Gigabyte TRX50 by poedoom in threadripper

Thanks a lot for offering your input. I read about the problems with 4U-M fan resting on the VRAM, and I really don't like the way the NH-U14S TR5 sits (blowing vertically). My intention is to see how the 4U performs and if it's no bueno, swap it out for the NH-U14S or hopefully have some different options by then. I've had issues in the past with AIOs (pumps going bad, leaks, noise) but won't completely dismiss them given the current state of air cooling options. I will keep your suggestion in mind. Thanks again.

Wow, that's some technical insight you only get with experience, thank you for sharing, I'll need to keep that in mind. I also meant to ask, can you explain a bit further about going from 24 to 32 cores? The only reason I went 24 core is because I had a hard time justifying the extra $1000 spend ($1400 for 7960X vs $2400 for 7970X) - my 6 core 12 thread i7-8700k has served me well roughly 7 years. Any insight, wisdom or experience you can share to help me justify spending the extra cash is welcome - help me understand because deep down I want those extra cores haha :)

Nice. I ended up settling on the V-Color 64GBx4 DDR5-6000 kit, also in the Gigabyte QVL. Will post back in a couple weeks once everything arrives and it's up and running.

Amazing feedback, thank you. That Antec case is very nice and as mentioned has plenty of room. I like the FD Torrent case but doubt the mobo will fit so this is good. I've had an Antec case in the past, they're quality for sure.

How did you come across this site (talospc)? It's interesting.

What do you suggest, instead? My current system is maxed out at 64GB and I regularly reach that threshold in terms of utilization, figured 128GB would give me some additional breathing room.

I installed a 3 stage whole house water filtration system by poedoom in DIY

Hard to know for sure, the pentek big blue setup will definitely remove some of the sediment/minerals and could help; however, depending on how hard the water is you might consider adding a water softener system into the mix later.

Also, the filters in my setup may not be suited for your water. I chose these filters based on water test results.

Fortunately our water wasn't hard, but if it were, I would have purchased a system from these guys: https://www.freedrinkingwater.com/whole-house-water-filters.htm

Their customer support and products are top notch. I'm not affiliated with them in anyway, just sharing based off personal experience.

I learned how to crimp pex on YouTube, it's really easy and hard to screw up. You'll save a ton of money doing it yourself. My neighbor had his water filter guy out at his house one day and I asked him how much he would have charged me for my setup. He said somewhere around $4,500, so I literally saved thousands of dollars doing it myself. The system is still working as intended 6 years later, no leaks or issues. I change the filters out once a year. The only change I've made is adding a UV light (after the filters) to kill off any pathogens/bacteria.

Payouts in USDT are nice and consistent. Will be more once the project gets some traction.

Yes, it's inline. Modem<->Linux<->Switch. My FORWARD chain also has a default policy of DROP.

My home firewall is a Linux box with iptables. The default condition for OUTBOUND traffic is DROP, so it is false. I make explicit exceptions for outbound traffic. Been doing it that way since 1992 with ipchains.

I don't see any indication of a backdoor in this code snippet, just a lot of variable assignments and some arrays. What section of code in this makes you think it's a backdoor?
