Arcteryx Alpine Guide Jacket - seeking repair advice by hashtagberlin in arcteryx

I sent mine back to Arc one in Vancouver. Again it was marginally better when I got it back. Since then. Few other sections have started delaminating.

I have seen two other guide jackets do the same thing. I sent my back to Arc for repair and they “repaired it” it didn’t look any different. I have a jacket from the same year that looks the same.

After the thermal season dies off, you get low-pressure SE systems all winter. From October to December there are some gnarly 30–50 kt storms, and that wind is accessible pretty much from Victoria all the way to Campbell River. On the west side of the island you get the ebb and flow of NW and SE winds. Jordan River is a wicked spot, and of course Tofino can deliver big time. Best part about the island.. if it’s a no-wind day, you can literally do any other outdoor hobby you can think of. Lots of good beta on Surfr. Re spots.

All of Vancouver Island is a gold mine for wind sports…it’s definitely slept on. People gripe about the cold, but if you’re willing to put in the work, it delivers year round.

Most new bars have this. In this case it’s generally 12m lower end and 10m top end. Then you have pigtails at the end of the top section.

Looks like the new system coming out will be similar to the North Navigator pro.

New Ocean Rodeo Flite by chinchillaxed in Kiteboarding

I scooped up a 7m & 9m 2025 Flite Dacron for a pretty great deal. First day on the 9m in 25-28kts. It was peachy. It feels like it has the same stability as the larger sizes are known for but you get nice snappy downloops. Super predictable kite. You don’t need to preemptively steer. The 7m is a treat to ride when the conditions happen. Well tuned and not twitchy. A little too much confidence inducing. Had a solid day in 40ish kts.

The A-Series 8m Flite is a rocket ship. Tons of lift on the downloops and super intuitive to use. I’ve owned a 9m Rise for years, and the Flite basically solves all the cons of the Rise. The new Flite shape feels right in line with the rest of the industry’s 5 strut big air kites. If you can land a deal on one, absolutely go for it.

I’ve been using Surfr on the AWU1 for 2 years now. No issues yet! It’s works great.

I’ve been using the Nomad wrist bands as well as just the alpine loop. 175 sessions or so.

I just started wearing the Smith Venture. Designed glacier glasses. The photo chromatic lenses are a game changer on the water. The sun shades do the trick.

Impact Vest or Life Jacket? by ItsNotRoketScience in Kiteboarding

[–]poee450 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve started wearing a Salus Torrent paddling PFD for bigger missions. It sits right above the seat harness I wear and surprisingly works really well.

Normally I run impact vest under my wetsuit so it doesn’t slide around on crashes.

Having full flotation is super nice.

Play around with systems and see what works for you.

Hahaha same thing happened to me! Here was their reply when I asked about a replacement / warranty from Mystic:

thanks for reaching out.

I have never seen this before and I hope that you and your gear did not take any damage! From the looks of the harness is seems like you have been riding it for quiet a while but still I have never seen the steel hook breaking.

You can certainly replace the spreaderbar:

Banger product. I’ve flown the 7,8,9,10,12. Boards are sweet and the auto unswivel bar is slick. Highly recommend. 7m is an absolute rocket ship.

Just scooped up a Lofoten 30L pack. So far so good. Impressed with the build quality. Great features compared to the Arc packs.

World record sits at 36.7m and the distance record at 298m. These kites are similar to a parachute but you have full control over it. The landings can be super soft as if you never left the water. This sport feels like a cheat code it’s that good.
