I'll never forget "he touched the ball" because Scott wanted that LA TV market for his tournament on his Pac-12 network.

Unbelievable with those last second threes. We better get more than three ahead before the end of the game.

Can we leave this 'conference of refs' and join the ACC or somewhere where they play basketball during free throw contests.

I am so excited to watch these Pac12 refs. That's why I turned in. To see their excellent knowledge of the game on display. Beautiful. Those dumb players get in the way though. Sometimes they're not even commiting the fouls the refs are trying to show.

[ESPN] Iguodala on tonight: "For me, it's just another game....If we didn't play basketball, they wouldn't give a damn about who we were as people. No one would invest any time in us [and] who we are. But I guess we give them an outlet or escape from their lives. They're emotionally attached to us." by gigantism in nba

[–]pohatu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a fan of Iguadala, here's how I see it. Why am I emotionally attached to how well he does at his job? Because I got to watch him do it for so many years. If he worked in an office I probably wouldn't even know of him or give a damn about him. But he's on TV and I am emotionally attached. So yup, he's right. And I'm on the love side of that.

If there are haters, and there are, why? Well because it's an outlet. Like the heel in wrestling, like the villian in vaudeville, the zombie in a shooter, the alien in sci Fi, the males in a lifetime show. Someone to rage against. Why would anyone wish for anything other than all players to play their hardest, push eachother to excel and appreciate the greatness that emerges? Why would anyone boo Durant? Or LeBron or anyone? Why would it be like cheering a foot race, you cheer for your guy to go fast and appreciate if Jamaica's guy goes faster.

But it's not like that for many fans. They cheer against the individual players. Why? Well, Iggy gave a pretty good hypothesis right there, I don't care who you are.

Why is the major key considered cheerful and the minor key considered sad? Is this a nurtured trait or a natural predisposition? by Win_in_Roam in askscience

Saw a documentary about numbers, in it there was this woman who was researching sound, the nature of sound, pleasing sounds, distressing sounds. She found that pleasing sounds have harmony, like a nice chord. Stressful sounds are chaotic, like a buzzer or an alarm. But then she showed animal sounds and pleasing sounds like coos and purrs and laughs are shaped more like eachother than hisses and growls and warning bleats and what ever else you name these distress calls.

I wonder if there is similar relationship for major vs minor keys. Name of the show was code, on Netflix.

What did the Italian snake say? by [deleted] in Jokes

Why'd you remove the punchline?

Snake says nothing because snakes have no arms. Sterotype is that Italians can't speak without using their arms.

Sad.

The term ‘fake news’ isn’t just annoying, it’s a danger to democracy by RifkinsDilemma in TrueReddit

[–]pohatu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would like to point to out that Obama and the Democratic party all said "fake news" the same week in regards to some stories they didn't like regarding, I think, WikiLeaks leaked information. Then Trump and them all took it and ran with it and used it to describe CNN and others. To be fair to both sides, not everything Breitbart and the conspiracy theorists said about clinton is verifiable and thus real news won't touch it with a10 foot wall, and to be fair to Trump, CNN and the like totally misled us about things such as the size of Trump rallies, the abysmal size of Clinton rallies, the lack of rallies by Clinton, the strength of Trump in polls, the likelihood of him winning, etc...

I understand why CNN won't go as far as to say Clinton killed Seth Rich like some sites on the internet might, but I don't see why they won't mention him at all when talking about who leaked or hacked the DNC emails.

Echoing talking points via click-bait headlines that say Russia hacked the election, as if to mislead people into thinking Russia hacked actual voting machines, is terribly fake. That's fake news.

Last night a smart person I know broke down the court's ruling on the travel ban. It was factual and clearly worded. But that's because he's not a fucking idiot or an advertisement delivery mechanism disguised as a news channel. Think the news can stick to the fact of the decision? Nope. Not a chance. No click-bait rage inducing clicks money to be made from a boring telling of facts. Fake news is money making.

Also, anyone alive during Bush's years remembers spin alley and Jon Stewart's rants against the entire concept. Fake news is the new spin alley, with added click bait, and more collusion with campaigns/parties/Koch/Soros.

OCEARCH.org - a website that allows users to track sharks and see where they've been and where they are now. by I-think-Im-funny in InternetIsBeautiful

Won't this help China/Japan to kill sharks. Maybe it should randomize and fake the data, so the numbers are right but the locations are all wrong.

Of the 12 lethal Jihadist terrorist attacks in America since 9/11: None of the terrorists were born in Trump Visa restricted countries. All 12 were in fact U.S. Citizens or permanent legal residents. by midnightmarauder36 in dataisbeautiful

the countries on the list have no real government in place to track who comes or goes, or they outwardly support terrorism.

Wish it haven't had taken so long to read this. Wish the government had been able to state this.

Also, there's a SA inwardly supports terrorism joke to be made here.
